Last Saturday our granddaughter competed in her level of ice skating in a competition in Florida with skaters from around the world.
She has been skating since she was 3 years old and practices five times a week, twice before school, waking up at 4:30AM. She works hard and is very competitive.
She has had several coaches, all of them having had Olympic experience. She loves skating, and we are proud of all the medals she has won.
Our little ice princess has off ice coaching, must wear custom made costumes, her hair in a bun or ponytail, and skate to instrumental music only.
She placed first. Please take a look at her 2 minute video and feel free to critique it. She has been taking tap dancing lessons to improve her rhythm and has been coached on smiling more during performances.

I saw the video and she really did a good job. She will be a champion someday, I just know it. I can't even stand up on skates, as I fall down, and I won't even try skating at all. I have very week ankles, so instead I will watch others skate, and wish I could have done what they are doing.

Oh, thank you! Her dream is to be in the Olympics, but we shall see. She is ending the end of the beginner stage and has so much more to learn and practice. She has more moves, but her coach didn't want her to do them in this routine. Thanks, again!

Thank you! The more she learns, the better she gets. I am sure you know there are so many moves she must learn in sequence. She can do a sit spin. I have to learn all the terminology and then learn to recognize it when I see it. That's difficult for poor old Grandma! I called a spin, twirling, and was quickly corrected by a 7 year old.

Thank you so much for taking the time to watch. Her coach refused to come, even though my son would have to pay his expenses. He thought this competition was beneath her, but wanted the National judges to see her and get to know her name. My son had to hire a coach down here, just to get her on the ice. I think her parents suffer more with her schedules and early ice practices.

She is adorable and very skilled. I saw absolutely nothing to critique, but no one in our family competed in ice skating, so I certainly would not be an expert. I love your new photo! :)

Are you sure that she is only 7? She did great! Hardwork really pays.

She's amazing, you all should be proud of her. Hard to believe she's only seven. I can barely skate frontward, let along do anything backward, and it's been years since I even tried to get on them, probably over thirty. Like many here, I wouldn't want to try to skate anymore.
