Can't live without you

Today morning, my son had somehow opened the door of the washing machine and he was trying to stick a pen through one of the drum holes inside. I'm not sure how deep these holes are. My washing machine is a front load washing machine. I was terrified for his safety as well as the equipment safety in equal measures. I quickly removed the pen and sent him to the other room. There are five members in my family and my mom will be visiting me next week. I can't imagine washing all those clothes by hand if my washing machine goes wrong. With a three year old who changes at least four sets of clothes everyday, I have clothes piling up like the Nilgiri mountains at my house. I cannot even imagine my house without the washing machine. My mother in law is against the washing machine and insists that I wash all the clothes by hand. (Shudder!) Hope that day never comes. Is there an equipment/machinery/tool in your house you can't live without?

I hope you don't have to obey your mother-in-law. Who would want to wash their clothes by hand nowadays? I can't see any purpose for it.

@Scindhia By 'both of us' do you mean hour husband and yourself? If so, and your M-I-L wants you to wash by hand, make sure your husband does half!

@JudyEv Yes I meant my husband. My MIL would have a stroke if I suggested it

@JudyEv This is what happens when people are really old fashioned. She thinks I'm lazy to use the washing machine. With both of us working, I really depend on my washing machine as I don't want to spend my free time doing my laundry. I can spend it with my son instead!

The washing machine is one of the equipment I could not live without, but there are others, my oven, my refrigerator and freezer. I do not care about the dishwasher, I can wash my dishes by hand.

I am thankful of washing machines too! I can live without a dryer though - since we air dry our clothes outdoors.

As I live in an apartment, we have a laundry room in the basement, and I do laundry every two weeks. But I know if you have children you have to do it more often, so I am glad you have a washing machine.

@Scindhia It is good to teach your children how to use the washing machine.

@AnneEJ Ours is in the backside balcony. We live in the second floor. Another couple of years, after which I'm sure my son will do his own laundry. He is fascinated by the washing machine!

I guess you are yet to know the blessings of a washing machine then. Does your mother wash your clothes?

I couldn't live without my washer & dryer and with a big family I can understand why you don't want to wash clothes by hand. Good thing you caught your son trying to stick the pen in the holes and that he didn't cause damage. Maybe you need a lock on the laundry door?

@Marilynda1225 His curiosity knows no bounds now. He wants to experiment with everything within his reach. If I have to put a lock, I just have to lock every door in the house.

My washing machine, my fridge, and the lights in the house. I hate having to use my flashlight to use the bathroom when the power goes out.
