Bad News and Good News

The Bad News: On Tuesday, the school secretary emailed to tell me that my class, which was supposed to start this Thursday, did not make enrollment, and so it was cancelled. I was very disappointed, as my boss had said she thought it would definitely run. I really don't have much else going on at the moment except tutoring, which doesn't bring in much per week. The Good News: Things looked bleak, but this afternoon my temp agency called, and they have a job for me that starts Monday morning! I'm not sure how many hours I will get from it, but I know for sure it will be more than I would have gotten from the class, so now I'm going to make more money and will have Thursday evenings free, to boot!

The old saying seems to be true for you - when one door closes another one opens.

It is really strange how these things work out sometimes. Hope the new job works out well.

Thanks! It's just temporary, but I think I have at least a month on it.

Sometimes happenstance works in our favor, or one door closes and another opens.

Yes, that's the one thing I don't really know about, yet, but I don't think it will be too bad.

@AliCanary And one can do just about anything for a month. I am a substitute teacher; I often think I would be happy doing other temp jobs too. But are most temp agencies office work mainly?

@paigea - most temp agencies in my area have both clerical work and more labor-oriented jobs, such as working in production plants or warehouses. If you want to pick up teaching-type stuff, I could refer you to the website that I tutor through. They may service Canada. I just need your email to send you an invitation. If you would prefer not to post it here, you can go to my Facebook page, All Sorts of Art by Ali, and PM me there.
