Philippines had been experiencing several disasters. It is said that a minimum of 26-30 storms will pass by the country. This natural disasters had been causing thousands loss of lives, damage to infrastructure, and hampers the growth of the community. One of the worst problems that we are encountering is the lack of evacuation centers and if there are evacuation centers, most of them are substandard.
What do you think is the best way to address the concern?

Get them upgraded. Evacuations are mostly likely schools so it must upgraded to accommodate a whole barangay.

Very true. That's the common practice here. Schools are the best options as evacuation center. Each room might accomudate at least 3-5 families. But then, there should be a good management system to manage to prevent being overcrowded

25-30 storms. But i think this year it will be lesser due to the effects of El Nino.

The tenement evacuation center is feasible but when there is no storm then maybe occupied for school or office.

Yes agree with this. When there are no disasters and no evacuation this spaces can be utilize to some activities but with the agreement that it must be maintained well

Yah. In our country Philippines, 5% of the IRA yearly in the local will the allotted for local disaster risk reduction and management. From the that amount, 70% will be utilized for disaster preparedness, with that budget, you can utilized it for making a standard evacuation center. Well not all schools can be qualified as evacuation centers specially if the school is unsafe to evacuees. But for those schools that lack facilities to cather evacuees, then addidtional budget can be given to construct it as part of preparedness program
