I guess I have bashed enough Republican politicians for using musicians songs without their permission. It is now a Democrats turn. I guess Hilary Clinton is finally seeing the light or is trying to turn over a new leaf. This after her campaign put a new political ad on Youtube featuring a song that was supposed to make her look less establishment from the sound of things. The problem is her and her campaign never asked for permission to use the song. The song was by "Bikini Kill" and called "Rebel Girl" The band seemed to learn about the song being used in Hilary's commercial by their fans and friends. The band themselves kind of implied they were trying to ignore the whole situation because music has a life of its own. The problem is the fans and friends simply would not allow it. The band reported it to Youtube that the ad needs to be taken down and it was removed. Then filled out a licensing complaint instructing the campaign of the proper channels to go through. The song is not supposed to be used in advertisements period. So I doubt we will ever see "Rebel Girl" in a Hilary ad. The founder of Bikini Kill also claims this altercation has nothing to do with her or her bands personal politics. In the end, who can blame Hilary? The song even makes me want to be a rebel girl. The problem is does the shoe really fit with the life Hilary has led up to this point? That is not necessarily a bad thing, but one should not try to be something they are not.
