A New Addiction?

I always liked to color as a child and then when I had kids, I would color with them as well as my grandchildren when they came along. It was always a fun thing to do together as a family when they were young.
A few years ago, I was babysitting for a 3 year old and her and I started coloring together. We had so much fun and when she started school and didn't need a babysitter anymore, I really missed our time together coloring in her books.
That year, I asked for crayons and coloring books for Christmas. I know, what 50 something asks for things like that? At first my brother looked at me like I had lost my mind. But, when I explained to him how relaxing it was and how it helped me to relieve stress, he was all for it.
Fast forward to today where I have discovered the world of adult coloring books, colored pencils, gel pens and markers. I can literally sit and do it all day. The adult coloring books are so intricate in their designs, they are not like children's coloring books.
So, I have found that I have an addiction. With me being home by myself during the day, it gives me something to do. It relaxes me so I am in a better mood when my brother comes home from work. Although I hate packing and moving, I haven't been stressed about it.
Do you like coloring? Have you ever colored in an adult coloring book?

@simone10 I color more at night too.I enjoy doing it, as it is so therapueutic, and it does calm me.. I have quite a few different coloring books, so I have lots to choose from. I never thought I would ever color again as an adult, but I am so glad that they have made coloring bookds for adults.

They say that adult coloring books are stress relievers but for me it has an opposite effect. Its giving me stress because I wanted it to look amazing and color coordinated hehe. But I do know a lot of people enjoyed it.

Am not into coloring so much but I had to do it for my son.I remember he used to come home at times sad that he is not able to color perfectly and so he would ask me to show him how to do it.For example if he was to color the picture of an orange,he expected not to color outside the outlined picture of the fruit.

@simone10 Don't feel bad about missing that class. I took several years of art and I still can't paint free hand anyway. They used to have painting classes for the elderly some years ago, and when I retire I want to check and see if they are still offered in the area.

@TheHorse I have a lot of hobbies too and it seems like I do one hobby for a while then I move on to another. There was a time when I would try to do a little of each one each week but it was just too much. I like sewing, cross stitching, making jewelry and crocheting.

I have loved to color since I was a child. I have some old coloring books that my kids colored in. I will take them out and color in them today. I have seen the adult coloring books and would like to buy one soon.

I used to enjoy coloring and have considered buying several of those books, but figured that mylotting would help relieve any stress I might have instead. I did find an app for my tablet recently and downloaded it. I finished my first page without actually holding the colors in my hand, but picking and choosing from the palette provided. You're supposed to be able to print them off too to do in person, but I'll have to figure out how to retrieve things from my tablet to the computer first.
At present, we don't have wifi until we get the new router waiting at the UPS store. Once we have wifi again, I plan on writing a post and hopefully uploading the picture I made on the tablet.

I have a certain time when I am on myLot which is usually first thing in the morning. I am online for about 3-4 hours and then I get off and do things that need to be done around the house. I usually have spare time then to color as much as I want and it relieves my stress more than mylotting does.

@simone10 I found a free app which i've been using a bit to color on my tablet. It is relaxing and I'm thinking I'm beginning to understand why that is maybe. I may share about what I'm learning soon.
