Why are family friendly places so EXPENSIVE?

I think it's one of the hardest things about facebook ect is to see people going to expensive places with their families. I know there are people who stratagize to save to go to various amusement parks but man who has the money or patience to save thousands of dollars. Or even better where do these people work that they can afford to take such trips? I was discussing this with a friend how the kids can get a voucher for a discounted / free admission for an amusement park for reading all year. Ok but this place is nearly 2 hours away, and if it only covers one kid and it's about $75/ adult... it all adds up and like most live check to check.

Its crazy the prices my friend when these places are so expensive. I guess everyone will have to go camping instead.

Camping may be more budget friendly but you still have to accumulate gear and store it. We have started going "camping" but I would love to afford being able to go somewhere else like all the "jones' " do and give them memories of a few big trips now that they are all old enough and out of strollers / diapers ect.

I'm aghast how much things in amusement cost, no matter what country you are in. And as you say, if you have more than one child it's unaffordable.

Yes I have 3 kids. It's bad enough paying for the adults then add the kids... and then you have the kid that is a teenager which then they charge adult admission for also.

Don't you often wonder if they really go to the places they say they go to? Like you say how can they afford it.

It IS expensive. I'm not too far from amusement parks (a couple are less than a half hour drive away - the others maybe an hour), but it's not like we go there all the time. We know families who buy season passes and they go A LOT to get their money's worth - but I personally don't feel like going that often. Some parks used to have a toy drive at the end of the year - and we could get in with a toy valued above a certain price - that's when we used to go because it was such a good deal. But they stopped those drives a couple years ago. As we do not go often, we tell the kids we have to save up for such a trip - and when we finally can go, it's a much more appreciated trip because of our wait. Oh - we bring in our own food whenever possible (even though you're not supposed to) to save some bucks!

Places like that are not kid friendly they are only good for those running the show. They make all the money. They say they are but it's almost always cost prohibitive.

If you are referring to theme parks like Disneyland, it's about greed and enormous profits plain and simple. As long as people keep going, prices will rise. It's very simple to make a statement: don't go to Disneyland etc.

You are correct! It's not about an enjoyable experience for families at all because few can afford it. We don't go to even local amusement parks because we can't afford to splurge. Even going to a county fair is costly! It seems it's all about greed and not giving families the opportunity to make memories.
