Good morning. How are you doing today.
Mike and I have been going to Guatemala for at least 12 years.
Many people frown on us.Why do you go there.?
We loved it.We made friends. We stay at their place and learning about the culture there.Yet,Guatemala is ranked in the top ten as the happiest countries of the world. The photo on the right is Ana Marie who we stay at her place.
she has a wealth of information there.
Mike and I sponsor the children of the dump.We helped them if needed.
They are coming along. But with one problem.
If this is every going to a country it deserves is to be when the women stand up
and say I have to do something to help myself.
The male is still the boss and the women lack behind. But they are making progress.
This post is long enough.Yes,we love the country and never had an problems.
Have anyone ever been to Guatemala?
Sorry that the photo did not show?

@amadeo I have never been to Syria but until all this war I would have loved to visit the historic sites. ISIS has bombed many of them and deprived the world of some of its wonderful history. It is all of our history nt just the people of Syria. I have traveled to quite a few countries in Europe and Mexico, Canada and a few Caribbean islands.

@marlina while in Guatemala with are sponsor which means that the use the money whatever they need.
During the off season we donate money to a place in Yarmouth,Maine call Safe Passage.they are also affiliate with this.
Right now so I was told. That it is getting better and much help is needed. They are building schools and many volunteer there from all over are working on this.Even young student that comes here and live with family to brush up their spanish language.
at that time they will not let you go in there. They have a shelter and show documentary film of this.
Each day it does get better.Been awhile going there. But Safe Passage in Maine, keep us in touch.
They also have information on line to learn more and help them.

I have to be honest, I didn't even know Guatemala was a country. I feel very ignorant now. :( It's nice when you find a place, people and culture that you fall in love with.
