Here I am again waiting for my pay and wasting another opportunity to make money. I am impatiently waiting to get paid from a job I've done yesterday. One of those, "Hey, you work today, I"ll pay you tonight" schemes I keep falling for.
I worked for my landlord's management team to upgrade and rehab a house to knock off rent, (before it was due). This also came with a promise that my electric bill would be $100 shorter, and cash will be in my pocket.
After 17 days of work, I get a text saying, "This will be the last time I pay your light bill". What!!?? Wasn't this part of my pay? After a lengthy phone conversation about this, I have came to a conclusion:
No more bartering and no more jobs without a contract. I only received around $100 cash and rent was paid, but rent isn't that much here. Seventeen days of work, and everything totals to around $600. Anyone else would've been chared $1700.
So this year, I'm naming this Spring, "My Month". No more favors, free work,or bartering. Management isn't going to like this, but someone is going to figure me out this month.

@quarternoes yeah, it seems like my parents always tell me : look at those who can speak English, and may be can't but only teach English to Viet Kids, blah blah, grammars, and make $50K house, buy a $50K car. Why I just can make it to few hundred? There is one thing I realize that most of the Vietnamese students in America, come back to Vietnam after studying, all do opening business, English centers, few get connections and opening business with America, some others get a launch base of rich parent supports.
I can see my neighbor, he was an English teacher who did extra hours of teaching English for 2 years. After he bought a house and he quit. English is a business in Vietnam ok, because most vietnamese can't speak English, and that's how it comes. I can speak English without paying a dime for English centers, I don't wanna work there. English is everywhere, few people want to learn it truly, people want to be pampered that they are learning English so well. Pretty awesome.

@anh101 Let no text book nor teacher fool you. I've mastered several languages, specialized in various occupations, and even took on businesses with a good business manner. We go hungry over here just as fast as anywhere else. Corruption, and avoiding it, is often the key here.

Believe me,if I can make it on $600, i'd do it. People who get paid doing what I do collect thousands, not a few hundred, like me.

Oh dear ruthless people no good..sods.
Yes think of yourself and how important it is to have things on paper..failing that, a good retribution scheme could work.
