How many of you really believe that God is merely an illusion of the mind? A fictional entity created by the human beings to fool themselves. Is this possible that the person who thought he was a form of God or God was psychologically disturbed?

Even though I am a vampire, I believe in god. Without god and cross you would not be able to control me. So you gotta believe in god almighty "DUDE'.. Was it a serious question? Ok...serious answer. Without religion, it would be difficult to get people to do things that would be nice for the society like respect one another, don't lie, don't cheat, blah blah. So religion was born. I am sure the guy who came up with the idea was not stupid. Only thing is he couched it in some existing rituals of the time to make things more acceptable, and fools followed up down to the 21st century. How is that for an answer from vampire?

I'm a Christian, and Believe that there is a God. I've always believed in God, and know that He's the only one that can save us from hell.

Very well, but haven't you ever, say even for a tiny moment, in your life doubted His existence?

@sidsks Not really. Because of all the things that are around me, like, the flowers, trees, Earth itself. I mean some folks are wondering who actually created the earth and everything around it? To me, God did, and He created it with very hard work. I cannot explain how He done it, just know and believe that He did.

@danny1971 Ok for the sake of argument let me say God exists. But then how is it decided that who goes to hell and who goes to heaven? Everybody does something wrong in their lives, nobody is perfect. Moreover deciding wrong and right is purely subjective. Whats right for one person may be very wrong for someone else. So how is it decided who gets what?

I completely believe in God and don't consider myself psychologically disturbed for doing so. There are many who don't believe in God and those numbers are steadily growing in the world. Atheism is also become more organized The Atheist Alliance International Convention and other organizations around the world are coming together just like other people that gather to speak of religious subjects According to some sources it is around 14% but I am thinking the figure might be higher considering China is not considered in some of the lists? The estimate doesn't also include those that might say they do belief in God but have serious doubts.

@sidsks I suspect this isn't the first time you have had a discussion on God. Perhaps in the way that you think of God is not actually the way God is. We read a lot of different things and not all agree. I don't believe God is controlling but if I needed an important decision to be made I would look for someone I could trust and listen.

I did not mean that people who believe in God are psychologically disturbed. Sorry if it seemed so. Its just that I can never digest the fact there there is someone out there who decides each and everything for every living organism in this world.

@Bluedoll OK. But would you not take decisions based on reasoning and experience rather listening to God, which frankly I have no idea how you do.

If you are referring to Jesus of Nazareth, then you should know that according to what is written, he never said he was God.
