New Computer

When God wants to bless me, He really knows how to do it. I got a call from my counselor today that he had a computer for me.
So no, it's not new, but it is a Dell, and it does have Windows 10 on it. I still need to find out about documents and if I need to load in Microsoft Word. However, I'm up and running on the Internet at least for now. And not only can I see with the new myLot font, but I have my 25" monitor back in use again.
No more laptop
So if you've missed me the last few hours, that's what I've been doing. Getting the computer and getting everything working. I did need to go to the computer store and get a compatible monitor cable, as the monitor has HDMI but the computer doesn't, but it does also have the compatible cable for it. So I got that and everything is good to go.
I see nothing has changed between the wait/kill box and the shockwave flash plug-in error. I'm still fighting that, but I can have more than one window open now.
So I'm a happy camper at long last.
I hope your day/night is going well. Thanks for reading.

That is fantastic, Valerie!
Uhm... you might want to hold off installing Word on your new pc, though... Word is one of the Microsoft programs that Win10 refuses to play with.
Most people who switched to Win10 have found that they have to install a pup (possibly unwanted program - since it was not written by or for Win10, your pc may call it a pup and try to keep you from using it.) called Open Office by Apache. It can be found and downloaded from this site.
Good luck with the new pc and I hope everything starts going your way, hon!
The official home page of the Apache OpenOffice open source project, home of OpenOffice Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw and Base.

@just4him Uhm... okay, but what are you going to do when you start using Word and it keeps crashing or changing the set-ups you just finished installing? (Those are two of the things people are complaining about to Microsoft!) (Not a joke, either!)

Too late. I saw the Open Office. Not sure about it though. I've already installed Word 2007. I sort of need that if I'm going to work on a manuscript and I do want to get another book published this year besides getting the first three into second editions.

Glad you were blessed with a new computer and didn't have to spend a whole lot, that was nice. I love my laptop as I never have issues with it but I know how much of a pain it can be when there is. Hope you enjoy your new computer and can get caught back up on your online sites.

So am I. I know he mentioned it, but I didn't count on it. So when he called today, I was excited and happy and now I'm working on it.

I so much prefer a desk top, I just think they last longer than laptops.

So do I. I have everything downloaded now. I still need to get Dropbox added to this computer so I have my manuscripts.

I've been in counseling for a year now and he knew my computer situation and how every time I got ready to buy it, the price went up. He mentioned to me in my last session that he was going to talk to their IT guy and see what he could do. He called me today and told me he had a computer for me and IT had loaded Windows 10 on it. I thought I would just be borrowing it until I could afford one, when prices were compatible, but he told me it's mine, not borrowed. So I am truly blessed. And now I have Microsoft 2007 downloaded as that's what I have. I still need to buy the latest version.

I'm having fun so far. I do need to get Microsoft Office downloaded yet, and I need to get Dropbox added to this computer so I can work on my manuscripts. I just found the download tray so I can get things taken care of, so that's good.

I have the Dell/Win10 combination as well, and it's working pretty well for me. I did have to purchase a copy of Word 2003 since it wasn't included.

I need to download my Word 2007. I'm hoping to get the latest Word though. So far I'm loving Win 10 and my Dell.
