So February, even though this year there are 29 days, is the shortest month of the year. Just as well because I managed to get sick not once but TWICE On the 1st it was my birthday and on the 2nd I was sick with flu. By the middle of the month all was well again then this week I started sneezing again and running a temperature and I was k.o yet again Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to see well enough to do some catching up. As this is the second year that I have got flu I am thinking to get the flu jab next year. Do you have it and does it work and stop you getting flu?

So we get snow on the 1st cuz it's yer birthday, cheeeze. Sure sorry you got that miserable flu, I hope you get well really soon. So far I've been lucky but I do recall getting some kind of cough a while back, it's mostly gone now thankfully.

Yes it is darned anoying because it stops me from doing anything, especially when the fever was high. It seems on the mend again now and I hope that continues through tomorrow. Fortunately I can stay in as we have storms, high winds and snow forecast for the next 48 hours here, the first this winter too.

I never bother with the flu jabs, but rarely have such problems anyway. Maybe the germs just do not like me and prefer to live in someone else.

I am sorry you are sick Diana and I wish you a belated Happy Birthday. Most of the people I know that had the flu shot this year also got the flu, some were so sick after getting the shot that it was just like having the flu. I did nothing, I did not get the flu, not even a cold.

@mysdianait I asked to my brother (who is doctor) because I was concerned about my Mom. He suggested to do nothing, even if he should push people to have the flu shot.

We get the flu shot every year for the last 4 years. I am too old to get the flu! Hope you feel better and that the dust isn't building up on your furniture. Happy belated Birthday to you, Happy belated Birthday to you ...

@mysdianait Yes, it worked and I would not be w/o it - I think at my age the flu might kill me LOL! I have enough dust for both of us. I moved some around earlier!

I had bronchitis after the flu last year and I fear this might appen this time too. I am doing everything I know to keep warm and not get a chill but my lungs do seem my weak spot. Antibiotics to stop bronchitis like last year put me k.o. for 10 days

Awww, that's not the kind of birthday gift one expects for their birthday (Happy belated birthday by the way!!) A lot of kids at school got super sick this season - many have been out for days (my daughter's friend was out for 2 weeks!). They had very high fevers that would not go away and vomiting too. We as a family have never gotten the flu shot. It's not that we have strong opinions about it - we just simply don't think of it when the time comes! Sure we have gotten sick, but all we do is let it run its course. Even my kids who are in a petri dish classroom never get as bad of a cold/flu as some of the other kids. So we've been lucky. Many of my friends will get the flu shot but say they get sick anyway. So seems like it's a hit or miss kind of thing with those flu shots - some will somewhat escape the flu season - and some will still get trapped! Hope you feel better soon!!!

Yes it does seem very hit and miss and hardly worth it if I would get flu anyway. Many people ahev had it here during the last two months including my grandson and my son. I didn't get it from them as I didn't see them at all during that time. Yes I am feeling better this evening and hopefully tomorrow will progress in the same direction so that by Monday it will be a thing of the past Thank you for the wishes!

@mysdianait Hope you are feeling completely better now!!! I suppose we could be hit with germs/viruses from anyone, anywhere. If not family (which is usually inevitable), we get it somewhere out there in public. What can we do, right?

I think it may be allergy season for my boyfriend and I. We have been sneezing throughout this month but we are not sick. I hope you get better! I have the flu shot every year for the past 5 years and didn't get sick - I hardly do. And for my boyfriend he never gets the flu shot and is sick at least once a year for a few days. It all varies depending on the person.

It does seem that the jab works for some and not for others and it is difficult to decide whether to have it next year or not. Allergies are a nuisance too and fortunately I am clear of those so far. Yes I am feeling on the mend this evening and hoping tomorrow will be ven better, thank you.

Yes that problem is over but now there is another one. This year seems to ha bave brought health problems with it, some which I never had before. I am pleased that you are able to log in here again. It is saddening when we have to stay away through no fault of our own.

@Daljinder This lovable ghost was A-Gent 008 until sometime back. And during that time he did keep some dearies under survillance. Of course all this is classified information, but now that I am the lovable Ghost, I can let some of the things known to the mortal world

She did not have the bday bash. Some of those who felt were uninvited.... maybe responsible for the issues on 1st and 2nd. For the record, I always prefer to hop in uninvited

Sorry to hear you've got the flu. I've never had the flu jab. My elderly parents have had it at times though, and it does seem to help prevent them from getting the flu. I don't get sick all that often - touch wood - but what I do do when I even think something might even be the teeniest bit "off" and that I may get ill, is I take 4 vitamin c tablets right away, and then another 2 vitamin c tablets about 6 hours later, and another 2 about 6 hours later. And it seems to do the trick - for me, anyway. Get better soon!

I took vitamnin C tablets too as soon as I felt 'odd' at the beginning of the month and this week but I guess it was too late and the damage was done. Next year maybe I should take vitamins from the begining of winter rather than having the jab. Many here are not positive about it at all. I feel much better this evening thank you

Sorry to hear that you had the flu and I was fortunate to escape from it since it caught with my husband. I did not have the flu jab despite it being encouraged widely during the bird flu pandemonium so I don't know if it is effective enough to prevent a normal flu. However, I understand that recovery will be faster if you have the jab during the early stages of the flu but there again it is really difficult to say considering our body resistance is individual.

I´m so sorry, Di! Ailments seem to come to us when we need them less. I still use the old Aspirin, chicken broth, and lemon juice for colds and flu. I don´t accept those flu shots even though they are free here for the people my age.

I'm just catching up with you to find out why you've been sick and in the hospital. I don't get the flu shots anymore. I take supplements that build my immune system and I haven't had a case of flu in years. I have gotten it in spite of the shots in some previous years. I hope by the time you read this you will be about well. I just saw your post in another discussion, so it appears you are on the mend, and I'm glad.
