My First Attempt

I have always admired the limericks written by my fellow myLotters.
Many of my friends insisted that I should at least try.
English is not my native language and it's not easy to write a poetry in a language different from yours.
Anyway, this morning, looking at the cat of my neighbor acting weird, I came out with this short limerick.
There was a cat that went astray,
born on April fool day,
started a fight
on a commercial flight
and feather flew in every way.
Say nothing, I know that it's silly.
Have you already posted a limerick?

Good attempt. You should not have that thought that only native speakers can write poetry.I have been writing poetry for many years and some of them have been published.

A limerick consists of 5 lines the first two and the last should rhyme with each other and the second and third line should rhyme with each other. Try it.

@allknowing I see that you know much more than I know. Have you written one?
This is all what I know about limerick:
QUOTE"A humorous, frequently bawdy, verse of three long and two short lines rhyming, popularized by Edward Lear."

What do I say? I barely understand poetry. But this one of yours sounds all good. After all the so many above mine cannot be wrong.
But yes, I did appreciate your trying it out and it worked out all good.
As for me, I did attempt one much early on, on one of @Jessicalynnt 's threads. And I have no desire to walk on these roads just because I simply do not know my way out on these.

@Jessicalynnt But what about those who have no idea what they are getting into. I did read the stuff I wrote on yours a few days later and I had been laughing at my miserable (read horrible) attempt
Somethings are just not meant for me, I guess

That was good and your English is far better than many Americans!!!
I have done some of these, but they are 'off color'....

@AbbyGreenhill I need to be in the right mood to write rhymes, even in my own language.

@LadyDuck I did try.... Here is what I wrote on Jabo's post...
I fear if I tried any diet
I would give every one a fright
I am all skin and bones
With dieting it too would be gone
There wouldn't be any skeleton left in sight
Every one enjoy bike rides
Speeding and jumping past high tides
But there are a few
Whose balance is all screwed
They have vast experience with sore behinds
I need improvement on my rhythm as Jabo said ... I am working on it.

I just tried to read that loud with a Fake Irish accent. damn it, I can't mimic an Irish accent.
I posted Poetries here before but I prefer Acrostic poems over other formats. The last time I wrote a Limerick is during my sophomore year in highschool. I think I should write one again.
