What will end when the end of the world comes?

Many think that the world will end one day, sooner or later and no one knows for sure when but there are some that think we are very close now. The end of the world is also referred to as apocalypse or armageddon. In the Bible, God tells us that he will bring an end to this world.
What do you think will end when God brings an end to this world?
* The planet earth and all things in it?
* Wicked people and wickedness?
* All bad religion?
* Bad and corrupted governments?
* War?
* Injustice?
* Poverty?
* Crime
* Sickness and death?
What do you think?

I appreciate your comment! Do you think that what the Bible says about God ending wickedness and the earth becoming a paradise where good people can live forever could happen?

The Bible tells us that God will destroy this earth and there will be a new heaven and a new earth. As we read the Bible, we see so many things that are prophesied that are being fulfilled today, so we know that the end will come soon. The important thing is for us to obey the Word of God, and be ready when Jesus Christ comes back for His church.

Here is a quote from a translation that follows the original text, and it is interesting that Matthew 24:3 shows the true meaning of what is going to end: "While he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately, saying: 'Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?'” NWT

@AnneEJ Some think that the the planet earth will be destroyed by God. But I think that the earth will be here for eternity. It is wicked people that will be destroyed and not the planet.
Ecclesiastes 1:4 New International Version (NIV) 4 Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever.

I disagree with you often, but you will be surprised, maybe even happily so, that in this matter I will say that you are closer to Biblical and Historical thought;). There is some confusion regarding the term "end of the world", as you address. In the Biblical sense, it does not mean the end of the earth-in Biblical Hebrew and Biblical Greek, the terms rendered "world", in relation it's ending, are Olam and aion, which more properly refer to an age-part of the confusion came in with an expanded meaning of olam and aion meaning not only an age, but everything in it, hence both terms at times came to be rendered "world", and being confused with the planet, or another Greek term, kosmos, which is again rendered world but it's meaning again, not the same as what we are speaking of. That is, strictly speaking, neither Olam nor aion refer to the planet earth, but to a frame of time. And though there are verses which speak of the destruction of the earth, however there are also verses speak of the restoration of it as well-or as Paul says, Creation being freed from it's corruption. That is actually one of the reasons why the idea of bodily resurrection was important to the Biblical authors, because in Biblical thought justice is about bodies, and bodies exist in the world-in order for there to be Redemption, in the Biblical sense, there needs to be Resurrection-an idea which St. Paul stresses in 1 Cor. The New Testament speaks of "this age", and "the age to come"-a phrase also used by the rabbis for this (wicked) age (Ha'Olam Hazzeh) and the coming age (of the messiah) (Ha'olam Ha'ba)-that is, in Biblical terms, what we are speaking of is the difference between a world of injustice, and when God's kingdom is fully worked out. Some Christians are confused by that...but, these are actually things we affirm in the Creeds, and it is one of the reasons why the idea of the Return of Christ was seen as essential to Christian faith.

Thanks for adding to the understanding of this most intriguing subject. As we see this world continue its downward spiral, we need real hope and comfort that only the Bible provides. Wickedness will end and better things are at hand!

According to the Bible, all bad things will end.. Jesus taught us to pray that God's kingdom would come and his will would be done in heaven and on earth.. Matthew chapter 6.

@1hopefulman The Bible said so in 2 Peter 3:10: “The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.”

Thanks for your reply! Do you think that the earth (planet) that we live on will be destroyed by God?

@salonga Doesn't that say that the heavens will disappear? Can that verse be taken literally? Very interesting! I think we have different views on this topic and so I wish you well!

The main thing that will end is sin, as satan will be destraoyed and so will his angels. When Jesus comes back, the righteous will be taken to heaven, and the wicked will be destroyed by his brightness. The oinly one left is satan, who won't have anyone to tmept, so there will be no sin, and when the world is destroyed by fire, all the wicked, satan and his angels will be destroyed, as the earth will be cleanses and made new again.

Thanks for sharing your views! But doesn't the Bible say that the earth will remain forever and did not Jesus say that meek will inherit the earth?

@1hopefulman Yes he did, but during the milennium, we will be in heaven for that period of time which is 1000 years. After the milennium is over, he rains fire down from heaven to destroy satan and all the wicked, and then the New Jerusalem comes down from heaven, so we will live on the earth in the New Jerusalem, for all eternity. The word forever, in that context, means as long as the circumstances last. The hellfire won't last forever, as satan would never burn up, and Malachi chapter 4 talks about us treading on the ashes of the wicked. If they don't burn up, then we can't tread on their ashes.

Sometimes I think we are nearing the last days because of the so many ill things happening.Look at the churches;these have been experiencing ugly scenes of pastors fighting for money or leadership.It so happens that we are moving to a world where it's hard to trust anyone with increased cases of fathers raping their daughters.People have become so inhuman.

Those are all signs that we are getting closer to when God will rescue obedient mankind and end the wickedness on this earth. Then, we can enjoy everlasting life right here on this beautiful creation of God. It will be like a "new earth" as it says in the Bible. Do you enjoy reading the Bible?

There is no future for corruption! God will soon put and end to that. It would be wise if we all change our ways before the day of judgement comes. What do you think?

@BACONSTRIPSXXX The Bible speaks about the end of the world and not the end of the earth.
Matthew 24:3 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
