I get it. People are proud of their sound, or rather, their noise.
In any case it should be illegal to produce a loud enough noise from a car stereo as to shake the windows from their frames and create a harmful wave of sound that almost deafens the ears.
We may think it's cool to pump up the volume on our newly installed factory made super duper bass reflex digital sound systems as we cruise the streets of the city at night but who are we trying to impress?
I doubt the car with the loud bass speakers would have pleased a patrol officer.
The main question is, do the manufacturers set proper limits to stereo system volume levels? I think most stereos are designed to play well beyond the safe level and much more to the point, to a deafening level of permanent auditory nerve damage that results in progressive hearing loss to both the user and those who happen to be close by.

I think the people who install these sound systems do some stuff to them to make them louder than normal for extra and the people who buy this stuff like it louder than a 747 taking off on the runway.

I don't like it when people just put music with high volume. It can damage our ears so we can hear less in the future.
If someone puts up a loud music from his car, strong basses that shake glasses, many people can get mad at him and he knows they will not like it. I think, one better read the number of that car and report the police.
It's almost the same as making a grinding with the car by driving fast and stopping the car at once. The wheels grind on the asphalt, making a noise that I instantly connect with a car accident. I once almost got run over by a car and it did grind it's wheels to avoid the accident. I was a little boy and decided to cross the road fast by running and not looking to the sides before crossing. Why do people do that ? Maybe they like the attention ?

They like the attention but they know it is negative attention and yes this is also why people like to fire off a pistol in the middle of the night, to get a rise and a thrill from it.

We get that in our neighborhood quite often As well as the one guy who parks outside of his house and just sits there with his bass thumping and rattling our windows. Like...why don't you go inside and listen to your stero instead of annoying the whole neighborhood!

driving your car around in such a loud noise is rude and the people who do this have some kind of self esteem issues if you would ask me and they need to draw attention to themselves

@lookatdesktop I have heard these stereos here on the streets of Riga, Latvia so loud that I get an instant headache.

Last night's few drive by window blastings were enough for me to want to take a few Tylenol for sure.
