I think it's quite likely that this is the rule you broke: You must not - "Post personal milestones such as birthdays, anniversaries, etc. - This is best celebrated via private messaging with your friends." I copy/pasted that from the guidelines. It seems a bit harsh though.

Or it could be this rule: This is not allowed: "New discussions directed towards only one or a small group of other members - You should use private messaging to chat back and forth with your myLot friends."

We are not supposed to type in capitals. It is considered yelling. That is not a myLot rule that is anywhere on the internet.

Web etiquette says that it is rude to type in upper case only, it is the equivalent of shouting.

From the Guidelines: 1) "Using all-caps, excessive punctuation, or "text speak"" 2) "New discussions directed towards only one or a small group of other members - You should use private messaging to chat back and forth with your myLot friends." 3) "Posting personal milestones such as birthdays, anniversaries, etc. - This is best celebrated via private messaging with your friends."
This is where you will find out what kinds of behavior are accepted and unaccepted on myLot. When in doubt, remember the Golden Rule!

Posting in all capital letters makes it very hard on the reader's eyes and will guarantee that they will probably not continue reading. Also, huge blocks of print turn a reader off, no one wants to navigate through all that.

It has been a rule here since day 1. At first I was wondering why till I read it was like shouting when you write in all caps.

You did two things against the guidelines the all-caps and the birthday celebration. Here are what is said it not tolerated in the guidelines: Using all-caps, excessive punctuation, or "text speak" Posting personal milestones such as birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
