I told y'all I was worried about going to his doctor yesterday, and I guess it was mother's intuition or something that made me feel that way. We went to the doctor and Julian had a 101.4 fever! They sent him to the children's hospital right away.
They did blood work, an IV, an ultrasound and a spinal tap on him. It was a HORRIBLE evening to say the least!!
They are keeping us here for 48 hours to wait for all of the cultures and lab work to come back and to monitor him. So far the one thing we know for sure is he has a Urinary tract infection.

Poor little dude. My son had a UTI when he was 14 months old, and he had a fever of 102. It is good that they are being very thorough with your little guy being so young.

@Morethanamom Yeah I am glad they are making sure nothing else is wrong. He is too little and something could go wrong fast if it's something they miss.

@LovingMyBabies My oldest was like that the first year of his life. I don't think I slept or ate at all that year.

Boys do not get urinary tract infections very often. My husband had one once when he was little but I think it was due to an injury. I get them all the time due to a disease when I was young that left me with light kidney damage. My daughter got them all the time when she was a baby until she was out of diaper age. My son has never had one. I had one so bad when I was in labor with him I had 103 fever. I felt horrible. Your poor baby with 104 fever must have felt so awful. Its so sad and scary when our little ones get sick. Your baby is so little. I hope that he will be okay and that his sickness is only due to the UTI which can be treated with medication.

@LovingMyBabies I hope that the problem resolves before he has to have surgery. It doesn't sound like anything I have ever heard of before. I hope that he will be well soon. I am sorry that you have to go through watching him sick and sorry that he is sick. I love that you posted a photo with this. I love seeing photos of everyone's family.

@shaggin No they don't. His kidneys are not working correctly. They are sending fluids back up instead of down into his bladder. Which is why he has the infection. They are going to do an internal procedure to see how bad his kidneys are. If it's bad enough they will be doing surgery. =(

@AbbyGreenhill Yeah, we didn't expect this either. His kidneys are not functioning the right way. Their going to do a procedure to see if his kidneys are working enough, if not they will be doing surgery on him.

@akalinus The doctors said some babies just get them randomly but others get them because of kidney issues so that is what they are checking for-which is why we have to stay here so long.

Aww, poor baby. That really has to be hard on him and on you to have to deal with it. You did the right thing though taking him to the hospital, as they have the means of taking care of him, and he will be home in no time. I will be praying that he will be okay.

@LadyDuck The doctors said in some babies it just happens or it could be a kidney infection which is causing it. They are waiting for the cultures to come back to find out which it is.
