Cute and Quirky Near Koblenz

In August 2015 we drove our motor-home down (or up) both sides of the Rhine. We camped at Koblenz and stopped at several of the little towns along the way. Once again I have a lot of photos to show off so I've chosen a few cute and quirky to tell you about here. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the village where we had lunch in a café that had over 90 piano and button accordions as the décor. They were hanging from the ceiling and sitting on every available space. It seemed a bit sad that they were hanging by one strap and obviously unplayable.
We liked the parking sign for man's best friend, complete with a bowl of water. In a window was a very disrespectful little model of Queen Elizabeth which waved regally as people passed by. The tubby little chef was, I think, in the window of one of bakeries and the sailor puffing his pipe also attracted our interest. Some of the fancy touring boats must moor here and let their passengers off to purchase souvenirs and other items of interest.

Very cute photos, I loved the dog parking too, I've noticed at the wineries around my place has a water bowl out for the dogs and a sign to leave them out side of the Winery...

The cafe's ornaments are certainly cute and quirky! You had me laughing badly with your description and image of the disrespectful little Queen Elizabeth figurine waving regally as people passed by. Also how cool is it to have a road trip on your motor home? Never ever been in one!

It depends on whose eyes they were noticing all this as not everyone sees it. I noticed sheep grazing on miles and miles of grass skirting roads on our sightseeing spree in New Zealand but no one else saw it.

@JudyEv I do not think it is the unusual. In a foreign country most is unusual.

I've been headed your way for over an hour now and kept getting side tracked at your activity-by following you around the place. I decided, finally, that the straight shot was best and fastest, lol. I'd have to look at a map of your country to have any clue what you're talking about with landmarks and such. .

@JudyEv sorry I confused you with my small tale of traveling to find you. I didn't put it together that I was talking of traveling on your traveling post and that it could be confusing.
What I mean is that I went purposely to your page to read something of yours, but found your activity and ended up visiting with several of those you'd visited with recently instead. Finally, I 'woke up' and came right over without taking any more exits with your activity visits.

I'm not sure what you're saying but I'm sorry if I've 'lost' you. I've been writing about our trip through Europe and Koblenz is in Germany. I've been writing about our trip chronologically but interspersing it with more recent posts set in Australia. I figure people would get sick of the travel posts.

That sounds like a really great trip. I suspect my wife duplicated the drive when she lived in Germany for nine years.

@JudyEv Yes, she has many from there and from Turkey, where she lived for nine years as a teacher, working on US Air Force bases.

All the towns along the Rhine were very interesting. I hope you get there yourself one day.

You make me homesick for Germany. I lived there for eleven years.

If I was younger I'd love to spend a year or two overseas - France, Germany, Austria - it wouldn't matter. Eleven years was a long time.

I almost thought that was Key West! There is an bench with just such a sailor residing permanently on it. I should look up my photo!

Maybe it's the same sailor! They'd hardly make just one would they?
