MLB Daily Dish reporter Chris Cotillo and ESPN.com reporter Mark Saxon reported the news from Jupiter Florida that the St. Louis Cardinals have signed their second baseman Kelton Wong to a five year, $25.6 million dollar contract extension.
Wong was a first round draft choice of the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft out of the University of Hawaii.
Wong made his debut in the Major Leagues in 2013. Wong is a very valuable player with the Cardinals since he is an excellent defensive fielding skills and his ability to steal bases with his speed.
Wong wanted to remain with the Cardinals organization since he made his debut in the Major Leagues three years ago.
His new contract will expire at the end of the 2020 baseball season when he can enter the free agent market if the Cardinals decide not to offer him a new contract to remain with the team at the end of the 2020 baseball season.

That's a no brainer move locking this guy up in his prime. He is going to get better.

Not huge baseball fans but I have heard of him and think he is a pretty good player. Smart move on the Cardinals to keep him.

They better have signed him before the Cubs grab another Cardinals player.
