As many of you know I was planning on taking my aunt to an adult coloring class on Feb 25th, it did not work out where she could go. It turns out the 25th was the only day she could see the lawyer, for the next tree weeks, and so she had to put that first. Her estate with her late husband has not settled yet, so it was important that she kept her lawyer appt. It seems they are going to have the class once a month, and I will be able to take her March 24th, and she is looking forward to it. I know she will enjoy two hours of coloring and mingling with other people. She has adult coloring books at home, but I think she will enjoy getting out amongst others.

What a shame she has to miss the class - but she can 'practise' at home in the meantime.

Yea, I feel bad she had to miss it. However, it was important that she go see the lawyer, so hopefully probate can continue on. I am ready for the estate to be settled. It takes so long when there is no will.

@JudyEv How long has it took you with having a Will? I thought it went smoothly if you have a will.

@slund2041 It takes a long time when there is a will. Vince is executor for my mother's estate and that is taking a long time to wind up but we are nearing the end now.

Well it was something important she had to take care of that she had to miss out on that class - but luckily there will be another one. It's definitely something she can look forward to!

@slund2041 Well it's nice of you to take the time to help your aunt that way - it's good to keep her occupied and be able to stay social.

@much2say I read an article a couple months back regarding elderly people having to move in with relatives. It said just because they are surrounded by family, they still lonely for outside company. It is not enough to just keep her around us, she needs other people and activities.

Yes, she gets so down when she has nothing to look forward too. She was so use to coming and going as she pleased until her husband passed away and she feel and broke her legs. Now, she has to get use to going off when I have a bit of extra time to take her places. I am trying to plan out each week so I can take her shopping or some place. I took her to Hamrick's and K-mart this past Tuesday. She had a good time shopping for clothes.

Sounds interesting and that's very nice of you to do that for your aunt, I sometimes find my kids old coloring books and there are pages that they did not color ( i do not know why) and color it myself

Well, that is a start. I think the big difference in children coloring books and adult coloring books, is the children's books are big open spaces. The adult coloring books are small tiny places to color.

@slund2041 Actually i use to paint, that's what i really miss but i do not have the time now and my kids messed around with my art materials that are very expensive so I content myself with their old coloring books, crayons and what's left of my colored pencils.

@louievill I understand! Children can make havoc of expensive things. My cousin decided to put her life on hold while her children are small. She canceled her Facebook page, because her oldest child like to read her discussions. She cannot text much now, because her oldest reads her texts. She has no private life, because she lets the kids play with her cell phone and her tablet.

No, not really! She just love to work on crafts and such. I just got her into coloring and anything I can find for her to do, to keep her from getting depressed.

@cacay1 She has always been a very active person on a daily basis. She misses all her friend in Anderson (3 hours away from here).

@Auntylou I am certainly trying to make it more exciting for her, but she still complains of being bored. Sometimes, I feel like I can never do enough.

What a good idea for her to meet people. Adult colouring is really in at the moment. I always loved drawing and colouring with my kids when they were little. I keep thinking about buying a colouring book for myself.

You should get yourself one. I would get one, if I ever had time at home to sit and color. They have free adult coloring sheets online, that you can print off yourself. I thinking about printing off the same sheet for both myself and my aunt and color it with her on Sunday.

Yes, I hope she makes new friends. I am taking her tomorrow to play Bingo with other senior citizens. It last for two hours. Hopefully, she will make friends while playing Bingo.

@simone10 She did not make it through Bingo. I took her, and it was for seniors. They would not allow me to stay in the room with her, because I am not a senior citizen yet. She would not stay without me in the room. They did have a waiting room right outside there where I was planning to sit and read. My aunt was to afraid to play Bingo without me there. She has a lot of heath issues, and scared to be left without family member.

I'm sorry she wasn't able to go to the coloring class, but the lawyer was more important. Hopefully she will be able to go this month. It is good to get out and be with other people.

Yes, the lawyer is more important. I tell you it takes so long to get a estate settle, if the person does not have a will.

I have one of those adult coloring books too, I guess I bought the wrong one. The spaces are so small I need a magnifying glass to see them. Some they have out now have bigger spaces to color.

We are so alike. I also have those books and I enjoy adult coloring. It releases stress and improves my ability to focus on things. I hope she won't miss her 24 March class. She'll definitely enjoy those classes.

@slund2041 It will make her busy and it's a good mental exercise especially for someone of her age. Plus, she'll also gain new friends in her classes.
