Random Word Post – howdah

I find a random word by flipping through my 2003 The New Webster’s Concise Dictionary and write a quick – often silly – little post about it. # “howdah – A seat on the back of an elephant.” I wonder if this came about as some guy asking, “How da hell do I get up there?” This also makes you wonder who was the first person to think of riding an elephant? Why did they think that would work? Of course, how did ancient people figure out how to ride horses?
