According to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute ... Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to adult men and women.
Tomorrow i am going out jogging with my oldest sister. To prepare i checked my BMI. My height is 5 feet and i weigh 130 pounds. My BMI is 25.4. According to the BMI categories i am overweight. Now i really have a "heavy" reason to go out jogging everyday
What is your Body Mass Index (BMI)? Here's how to calculate:

That is nothing my BMI is 30 and still have the same weight this month. I some how struggle with discipline when it comes to diet. thank you for the link i will check on it again. i think fast eating and too much has also made me constipated again. well, I have a year to get it done, which is not easy right this moment

Self-discipline is very difficult to wrestle with @Letranknight2015 I had the same problem also some years ago. I ate and ate what was on the table offered to me thats when i gained weight without my knowing it. I just noticed that my clothes would not fit me anymore and i could not bend anymore to ... clean my self So i had to tell myself ..."loose weight or suffer"

Oh according to BMI - I am overweight... And on top of that the last time I went to the doctors she said there was an "Asian" category which makes me even more overweight since the BMI is calculated on Americans. I need to get on to my exercising. Hehe.

@mammots I don't even want to try! My doctor wasn't an Asian ethnicity but she said they do have an Asain BMI as Asians are supposed to be smaller than the norm of Americans. And I was like but I was born in America so I should be calculated from the regular? Lol. She said no...

I am working on losing some.
Good luck to you friend.
I need to get to 23.5 BMI, that is okay for me.

@mammots Everything I do is slow. I have a treadmill in the house I get on occasionally. At the moment its location isn't close to an outlet and with my current power situation plugging it in would blow a circuit, so I'm waiting until I don't need as much power usage as winter does. That should eliminate two extension cords and I can use one to plug the treadmill in.

You're doing a great thing for yourself! I'm also overweight, but I'm also older and have some very bad knees. Rather than just sit around making excuses, I'm joining our local YMCA to do water aerobics. I find I can move around in the pool very easily and not feel it. So, I can get my exercise, feel better about myself in a lot of ways and get healthier, too! :)

before I was confined, I weighed 53 kgs until I decreased because I was occasionally sick. At 5 feet 3 inches, my weight reduced to 48 upon confinement. the dietitian said that is the borderline weight for my height. Now that I am out of the hospital and resting, I plan to regain my lost weight. so, 7 kgs more (i weigh 47 kgs now)

You only weigh 103 lbs. Yes you really need to gain some weight but i think to weigh only 103 pounds but with strong and well defined muscles would also be fine because your tall (5 feet 3 inches). You just have to exercise to keep your muscles firm.

@mammots the problem with me is i am lean and slim, and I have no big fats, or my muscles are just apt for my structure. I am not the 'heavy' looking woman, and this is me since time immemorial. The most weight I gained was 55 kgs when I had my post-graduate practice in Batanes

If my IQ were as high as my BMI, I'd be a pretty smart fellow.

Mine is 23.2 according to that calculator. It has been up close to 40 (possibly higher).
I am in normal range.
It's important to remember, though, that BMI is only a guide, and that people who are fit, healthy weights and sizes can show up higher BMI if, for example, they have a higher muscle mass.

I didn't like the BMI calculator at first because it didn't calculate short people. I'm 4'11. Now they changed it to calculate short people. They say it's just a tool and not to really rely on it.
