Do you take "shelfies"? Here's mine!

I think it was on "that other site" that a bunch of us poked fun at the narcissistic "selifies" that a lot of people take by posting "shelfes," or pictures of our bookshelves. You can tell a lot about a person by what they have on and around their bookshelves.
My "shelfie" is from my music listening room, which is also my living room. You can tell that I love vintage loudspeakers, that I probably read at least occasionally, and that I never sold the records I owned in my younger days. What else can you tell?
Do you have a shelfie that tells a lot about you?

Your speakers are really cool. I wish I still had my old stereo. My son has an old furniture piece stereo.

I don't have a device that takes selfies. No cell phone. Does sound fun though. Nice room that you have there.

@TheHorse ......Me either. I think my mom did one time years ago and didn't even know it. It was a double exposure.

@celticeagle She tried to take a selfie of herself? Was she flashing gang signs?

@TheHorse The few I have of value are on the top of one of those roller desks, on the little bit on the back that's flat and shelf like, lol

@Jessicalynnt I should unload some that I'll never read again, but I can't bring myself to do it.

I can tell that you have won quite a lot of trophies for something (can't say what) and that you are clearly in the business of testing and refurbishing the cases of speakers (the two in the front have no fabric covers yet and both have peculiar semicircular marks where varnish has either been removed or applied - I would guess at 'removed' ... with a very large disc sander).
There are also some unidentifiable objects in the foreground which spark my interest!

Well done! The trophies are from softball. I use NO power tools or sanders on the speakers I refinish (snobby look emoticon). At that point, I was actually oiling up the Marantz Imperial 6 speakers that have since become my vintage (late 60s/early 70d) references. The foreground stuff is mostly candles and a spray container of what may be guitar polish--nothing very telling.

@TheHorse The lines between the oiled and unoiled areas on the speakers is so regular that you clearly have a very specific technique for this, probably based on the arc described by your forearm. Either that, or you use an old 12" vinyl disc as a template!

What a better idea to see what's on people's shelfs rather than all the self-indulgence promoted today!

@MarymargII It'd be fun to see what's on others' shelves. I hope books are still in vogue.

We only have a small shelf that holds my girlfriend's books. Not interesting enough to take a photo. It is a cool idea, though.

I read the title wrong and didn't realize until the end of your post lol. I was fully expecting to talk about and defend my "selfies" --- 99% of which are with animals so that's why I take them lol. The only ones...well my little niece has kind of gotten me into the habit.
NOW, for the actual topic :) I currently do not have my bookshelf because I've recently moved...twice...and now I'm in the process of purchasing my first home. So I'm living out of boxes right now lol. But when I had my book shelf up, 3 of the shelves were of books or reading material and the top 2 shelves were decorative. One shelf had a "bear" theme and the other had a couple of random stuffed animals lol. On top of my bookshelf was a vase with peacock feathers and porcupine quills and one of my senior photos.
What's that all say about me?? :)

@TheHorse Oh yes I love to read! I don't like the idea of getting a kindle and reading off a screen. I like to hold actual books!

When we downsized and moved into this tiny house, we had no extra room for a bookshelf, so my hubby got inventive and made bookshelves in the only open place we had left, in the laundry room above the washer & dryer.

@TheHorse I might ... I have to get my art room back in order. My husband's (Skip) study has many shelves with movie, books, and photos.
