I wonder why people want to drink when they are in the casino. They are more likely to lose big if they drink, and they feel high and happy. They should see through the marketing gimmick of the casino. A couple of years ago, my friend went to the mountain resort casino with her group of friends. They went to the bar before they entered the casino. My friend was not so drunk that she did not know what she is doing or could not remember what she is going. She was just drunk enough to feel over-confidence, and she hit max bet on the slot machines. Had she been sober, she would not sit down at that particular machine. That was a 20 cents slot machine, and hitting max bet meant that she paid more than $10 per game. Her usual game play was on 2 cents machine, with $3 per game. Fortunately she won and her friends managed to convince her to take win, and left the casino for a show. She never ever drink before going to casino again. It is a scary experience. I have no idea why people drink at the casino. I guess they feel like a festive mood.

I think they drink to get even with the casino. If you lose money in the slot machine or table game, and you get free drinks, you would think that at least you get something back. In reality, this frustration and the free drinks combine to make the person lose his cautious attitude, and he loses big money.

They drink because the drinks are FREE in most casinos.

@IreneVincent That is the problem. When they are losing money, they drink more, and then they lose more. They should not drink until they have finished their games!

She could have been tempted to bet or play a lot more and loose if it weren't for her friends.

Yes, fortunately she has a group of friends with her. She likes to play, but she normally plays within her limit.

I don't know why. But it seems it is a habit for people to do so. They need to drink something when they are gambling.

@scheng1 In fact the places like casino is similar with the clubs in my opinion. It is OK for you to drink soda in the club, but it may be strange

Lucky it was in her favor this time around but I would not drink when going gambling. Sometimes people cannot function or think when they are drinking.

Yes, she was lucky, and she is smart enough to learn a lesson. if she lost on that machine with $10 per game, she would lose a thousand dollars in a very short time.

@scheng1 Yes - I cannot imagine losing that due to being drunk.

Usually drinks in a casino are FREE, except for the expected tip, as long as you are on the casino floor. I don't gamble but have been to Las Vegas three times. I went into several casinos just to look around and experience the atmosphere. I've also been into the casinos on cruise ships. There were always servers carrying trays of drinks and the drinks were FREE. The server expected a tip, but there was no charge, for the drink, so gamblers take advantage of this service and unfortunately sometimes get VERY drunk. The final result is usually losing money on the slot machines or roulette wheels. The odds are that most gamblers LOSE big time. It's set up that way. Sure, there is an occasional big winner but the odds are against the players and FOR the casino, no matter what game you play.

You do have the best deal. You get the drink for free, and you do not gamble. Those who gamble should not be drinking when they are in the game. They can drink after they finish the game, so that they have better control of their money.

It is not necessary to drink whenever you hit casino. Going to casino is opted as a fun time. This is why people get drinks for fun and play casino for fun. But yes for sure, its casino's marketing policy to earn lot from their customers. If somebody is drunk then he/she is definitely going to bet for a long time ending up all the money and regretting later on.

Some people can handle how much they drink. I drink when I gamble but I only have a few drinks I do not go overboard. The drinks are free also i think that's why alot of people drink while gambling as well.

The casino management gets back more when they offer free drinks. I think you have a good control of yourself, and you do not allow the drink to meddle up your head and make you reckless.

That is such a great point and for some reason have never really thought about it. I personally love drinking over gambling and that is why I do not gamble. If I do gamble, I do not drink because usually after I have lost 10 bucks I quit. lol I imagine quite a few people lose a lot of money from being to intoxicated. It is definitely a gimmick.

Yes, I agree that is a marketing gimmick, and yet so many people are falling into it. They think they can get free drinks, but once they get slightly drunk, they will bet big, and lose their money. It is better to gamble first, finish the game, before taking the free drinks.
