My Confusion

One of my connections posted to an old discussion of mine. I thought it was a recent old discussion, because I had posted to a same topic lately. It was about Robins.
It was nice to see the discussion awoken, but it also was kind of sad.
The next responder is someone who has passed away. I had not checked the date, so my first thought was someone had taken over her account. Then I saw that it was not recent at all. I believe it was from 2009.
The next thing I noticed was that @JoyfulOne had liked the response. Joyful One was my first connection or friend here on myLot. She has not been here in ages.
I think of her and @ElusiveButterfly in the same breath. I think that is about when EB and I met.
Here on myLot we have been through a lot of history. It can be happy and sad, but it is part of who we are. It is also part of what our myLot site is. It is a place to connect and share.
Thanks to @TheHorse for finding that post.

I haven't been here long but I've seen that many members have a very long history. It would be sad seeing your late friend's comment. I don't go to old posts much although I'm sure it would be worth my while. My time usually runs out by the time I've gone through new discussions and answered comments and responses on my own posts.

I did go to old posts at first, hoping to alert friends to the fact that myLot was back.

@GardenGerty That was a good idea. I'm sure some old members would have appreciated being brought up to date.

Hi Gerty! Blast from the past lol. I had to quit MyLot back during the year I had cataracts, couldn't see a danged thing on the computer! Then I've been swamped with a whole slew of other health issues, all of them permanent unfortunately. I'll be 70 in a couple years, so right now it's a giant focus on health stuff and enjoying the grandkids. Came back from a mini stroke, and found a brain aneurysm....yikes; I'm calling it a "stroke of good luck" though, because they wouldn't have found the aneurysm if I hadn't stroked out. So my brain doesn't function as well as it could. I want you to know I fondly remember you, and glad to see you still on here! Giant hugs to you my friend

We had two years where other people owned myLot and it was not good. This new version is terrific. I hope you will be here and be around. Can you see me jumping up and down now?

@GardenGerty I had heard that there was some problems before, and that it wasn't the same anymore. So glad to read that it's gotten better. Hahaha, I'm picturing you jumping :D (Although it would be funnier to see me jumping...I'd be kissing the floor in 3 seconds flat lol) Have a nice evening!

It is easy to forget just how old some of our discussions really are here.
When I returned last year I spent a fair amount of time sifting through old discussions and must have surprised several members by responding to some from 7 or 8 years ago.

When we were getting started again I would deliberately seek out old connections to respond to in an attempt to lure them back.

@GardenGerty Oddly I did precisely the opposite. My following list contained several members that had not been active for 7 or 8 years, so keeping all of those would give a false impression of the quantity and make it difficult for me to amass a realistic and practical number.
Therefore my first action was to delete the whole list and start anew.

@Asylum I remember you saying that. I am too lazy to do that. I will just let every one think I have 1800 or more followers. Some may even be following me from beyond.

There is a happy balance between posting too many and not posting enough.

Yes we have been connected for a long time GG. I believe that MyLot has brought a lot of people closer who would never have known one another until the day they connected.

@GardenGerty so am I. I have browsed through some old posts I had made years ago and was saddened to see the comments that many had made. Some of those people I had grown quite fond of.

Some of the older posts are still relevant, and so it is good to reopen them. I also know that sometimes they show up to the side with the caption : You might also like. I have been to some older posts for that reason.

You are correct some of the Captions are why I would look at an older post.

Some of my earliest friends from here and from Gather I still see on Facebook. Some feel that they have grown beyond what they can receive here, or just do not have the time in their life right now.

@GardenGerty I can see the urge to be here come and go, I do worry though, esp when a once active person just poofs!

JJ did a post about the oldest mylot discussion still up and through that a link was given to a member I was good friends with who has disappeared and on her discussion was a good friend of mine who has since passed away...that was pretty sad.
Makes you realise how things can change in a very short space of time...sometimes for the better but, unfortunately, sometimes for the worse

Nostalgic memories indeed. I can understand.
Oh this reminds of JJ (@myklj999) . Is he no longer on mylot?
