If things go according to plan, I'll be starting a new internship on Sunday (working weeks here in Dubai are from Sunday to Thursday)
It's an unpaid internship, but I get to write for a local English magazine for the next two weeks. It's a hell of a deviation for me as an engineering graduate, but I've written quite a lot in the past few years. Plus, most engineering companies are reluctant to hire engineers fresh out of undergrad, or studying in grad schools.
I keep wondering though, if I do want to pursue a career in writing for magazines and dailies, and most job profiles in the journalism sector require a journalism degree, what would be the next step that I need to take? I'm currently doing a masters degree, so is it too late to change gears?

I wish you much luck on the endeavor, I don't know what steps that you would need to take for journalism, however I would say this internship should be a step in the right direction. You could ask some people there at the end of the internship for suggestions, also a letter of reference would be good. How exciting for you, I hope you enjoy, and soak up all the knowledge others are willing to give you.
