Think of studying as mental practice. Just as you would "study" how to use a skateboard, sing a song or play a video game, you also study the information for life to help you live it. And that information includes history, so that you won't make the same mistakes that people did in the past. It includes math and science so that you will understand how the world works. It includes English ( or whatever happens to be your particular language) so that you can write information that will say what you mean it to say and the rest of the world will understand it. After studying the collective knowledge, it allows you to become an independent thinker who can weigh the pros and cons of a situation and make the best choices (rather than being swayed by emotional hyperbole) Otherwise you are likely to blindly follow where others lead you. Oh yeah and it gets you into a good college so you can get a good paying job and won't still be living at home when you are 30.

We need to study to acquire knowledge - knowledge is power. If you have money, some one can steal. if You have knowledge no body can steal. Also education is suppose to teach everyone:
1. To respect every human being
2. To indulge in doing good things
3. To take care of those who are in problems
4. To develop friendships
5. To understand peoples of the world
6. To respect all religions and appreciate their best
7. To live in harmony with neighbours, with countrymen and peoples of the world.
so and so forth.
But sadly, the education has become mere certificate to get a job.

because it's a normal process we need to undergo. it's not because it's stupid but it's where we learn things we needed in our future. when in school, we think it's boring and silly and nonesense, but when you finish college, you'll see that it was lucky of you to be able to really have that once in a lifetime chance to study.
