Writing online allows you to create money out of the air. The advertisers need to reach out to many people online. That is why they place orders with Google to advertise in content site, and blogs. When you write, you attract readers. The readers will read your content, and may or may not pay attention to the advertisements. Sometimes when the advertisements are interesting, the readers benefit. They get free trials or freebies just because they happen to chance on your content. That is how you earn money from writing online. You do need a computer but you do not need special skills. You can make enough to pay for your internet connection, and save up for investment.

@marlina I think, squidoo was acquired by hubpages. I'm not sure though.

Yes, keeping an open mind is important. Those who think that we cannot earn online do not even want to search for it.

it can be done though few sites pay enough to write for them exclusively and the more they pay the more demanding they are

Yes, that is true. Constant-Content is about the only place where you can sell unique articles for a reasonable sum of money. But then, they required perfection. They have a rule of 3 strikes, and they will not allow those writers who do not meet the standard to try again.

@scheng1 it makes them unreliable as you can't depend on a steady income from a site that could terminate your account virtually any time that way

I think it is best to just write our thoughts. Sometimes we can just touch others without knowing it.

I think many people here are good writers. When we read, we can feel their happiness or frustration.

My internet connection is $50 per month. I would have to spend a lot of time at myLot to earn that. But I do like your title about creating money out of air. It is a little like that.

I doubt Mylot earning is enough to pay for your internet bill. I think you need more writing sites if you want to fully cover the cost of electricity and internet. But then, if you do not earn from Mylot, you still need to pay the $50 because you still need internet.

@scheng1 I do one writing site to earn a little money, I come to myLot for enjoyment. My jobs as a substitute teacher and as a mystery shopper pay the bills.

Writing online gives me additional cash for my shopping. It is not that much but better than nothing and just spending time at Facebook with no material returns.

That is true. For me, Mylot earning is really very little when converted to Singapore Dollar. Considering the cost of living here, Mylot earning is just enough to buy a pack of 5kg rice!

That is why it is hard to earn. When everyone is doing it, the profit margin gets very low, and the internet sellers have to spend more time doing it.

I come here mainly for money. If Mylot stops paying, I will leave. That was a time when Mylot stops paying, and many of us left.

@scheng1 Thats right and most of us may leave or may not be that frequently active if money part is not there. But my point is if you spend your 2 hours here which you could have spent on serious paying job, you may earn more. But the very fact that you like interacting brings you here as compared to same time that you could have invested in some other paying job.

It is a wonder, to be able to think of something and express those feelings on a platform for others to read while earning money for those efforts. The hope, why many of us begin writing whether an innate desire or learned passion, is to transition into full-time work. But as many of us understand, writing is a relentless and tiresome gig that requires persistence. At least the platform is there to begin building a portfolio, and ultimately, attract clients. Thanks for sharing.
