Season 6 Episode 12 – spoiler alerts
A particularly violent episode with predominantly human blood spilt rather than zombies as the war between the Alexandria-Hilltop Alliance and Negan’s Saviours reaches a deadly peak.
Rick returns initially to Alexandria to spell out what is coming and invites a vote of dissent which only Morgan offers a heartfelt valid protest to.
Rashly, the away team includes the heavily pregnant Maggie, showing how sure Rick is of an easy victory.
As the assault involves getting past gate guards by convincing them that they have executed Hilltop leader Gregory, Rick uses a mangled zombie head to claim they killed the still very much alive Hilltop leader.
Once in, the Alexandrians start slaughtering Negan’s men, most of them while they are asleep. Glenn is distressed when he takes the first human life he has claimed in all the years of fighting against zombies though his second killing comes easier to him.
The attack seems to be paying off when someone hits an alarm and the fighting gets more difficult and close quarter. Just as the heroes think they have won, and Daryl is on the brink of recovering his stolen motorbike, a walkie-talkie announcement calls out that the Saviours have hostages, Carol and the pregnant Maggie.
The action packed episode does allow for some character development, especially Abraham’s rather callous off the cuff I no longer love you jilting of Rosita is heart-breaking.
The consequences of the failed pre-emptive strike could prove to be extremely costly for everyone.

I've only started watching this series and still a bit confused but I'm catching on. My family has been watching since season one and they were very caught up in this weeks episode

it has a continuing narrative - best to start from the beginning - the latest season is not always a linear plot so without back story it may not make sense

Did you get that comment that guy from Hilltop said about Rick after he punched the zombie head to look like Gregory. You are scarier than the Saviors. I didn't like Abraham's break up at all. I know he's into that other girl but he was just nasty about it.
