Do You Hate Sudden Changes At Work Or In Life?

I am someone who likes routine and hates having to adjust to sudden change. A work recently out of the blew they emailed everyone in the finance department about sudden changes in our procedures that was to take effect immediately. The changes were quite big and would need some time to adjust, so it is quite stressful having to adapt to change straightaway without any time to prepare for it. Are you like me and hate change or prefer routine?

No one likes sudden changes. Even I had a sudden change at my work place as I was transferred to another location suddenly which made me difficult to adjust at new work place

My son was also transferred to another location. He used to get to work in 5 minutes. Now, he is lucky if he gets there in 30 minutes.

@marlina Oh that sounds really annoying. The traffic must make it longer too?

Though I prefer routine, as it makes me feel more comfortable, I am fine with sudden change as well. I guess I can adapt to change quite easily. Sometimes the changes allow me to see something more beautiful or have different experiences in life.

@gudheart I guess it's very usual to get stressed with changes. I always remember there's a saying "the only constant is change", so change is always inevitable. Hope you'll adapt to the change very soon and don't feel stressed anymore.

Exactly. It seems the change makes no sense at work.

Yes, I hate change both at work and at home. At work especially, the changes are never for the better; it's like they purposely try to figure out how to make the job as inefficient and time consuming as possible.

I agree. I am all for change if it makes sense, but this just makes our work harder and time consuming.

I don't like changes from the routine but adapt when I have to. Done few times and I was pleased when I succeeded - siva

I had six bosses in 2 years and each time they appeared they wanted a presentation of my job description. I left the job. It is not easy to adjust to bosses having their own mindset.

Mostly I don't like change. I hope it isn't too stressful for you. Will there be ultimate benefits from the changes or is it too soon to tell?

Nope! No real benefits and it just seems tedious and makes our work life more demanding.

Yes, I like routine, too. Change can be very uncomfortable, and sometimes that's exactly why it's healthy. It forces us to see things differently and, sometimes, act and react differently, too. And that can be a positive thing, especially at work. I hope things get better for you!

True, it can be healthy. However the one I am going through is just stressful!

Changes in our life are inevitable but sudden changes are the most drastic one.

Give me change. Mundane, repetitive tasks bore me. I generally love moving positions every two years within my agency because I enjoy new challenges.

Like you, I prefer to stick to my routines. But I'm sure we can adapt to change, it's natural that change causes a certain level of stress in everyone.
