Men, why do they act so child-like sometimes?

My husband is no kid, he will be 73 in a few months. So being young and stupid is no excuse for what he just did.
We took a golf cart ride up to the back of our property - as far up hill as we could go. Instead of going back down the hill the same way we went up, he decided to cut across the creek. He said, "I shouldn't try this." as it did it anyway and we got stuck.
So he wasted a gallon of gas gunning the engine, but we didn't move. This is a deep 'V' where he tried to cross over and since he couldn't back up, the only way was forward, uphill and very fast.
I thought I was in a wreck on the interstate. I didn't think he would do it, but he did. So after I screamed at him loud enough to hear in the next county I told him what I thought of his stupid idea.
I have a few little cuts on my arm, not sure they got there. My right hand hurts from hanging onto Ruby's collar so tight and my leg hurts where I hit something. Other than that it was a wonderful ride. There are some things I let slide, but I guaranty this isn't one of them.
I don't know if he did any damage to his 'toy' but believe me if he did that's too bad. Men....'nough said.
Photo is mine

This reminds me of how happy I am not with my ex any longer. We had a favorite spot we used to go camping here and it was a lovely meadow. But in the Spring the creek would get high. One such time he insisted on going through the creek and going further on the other side of the meadow. We got stuck and it got so late we had to stay there that night. I was afraid we would wake up the next morning and wouldn't be able to get out. But we did. Men!

there is a funny expression "the first 40 years in a childhood period of every man are the hardest" The key words here are "the first 40 years" but i think the number can be easily changed

I guess the second 40 years are just as hard - for those around that man.

@AbbyGreenhill Don't be so sure. He likes to "open" it up, like he did with the salesman screaming in the back seat.

He made a mistake, i hope he regrets. there are moments were men tend to be child like as to reminiscing something they never did when they were kids. sorry you had to endure this, hope husband doesn't do it again.

I think, its something to do with them getting older and their excitement to do something adventurous. Not all men seem to be like your husband. I believe your husband was just as 'naughty' when he was younger
