Electricity is so far not given the importance it actually deserves. Many of us take it for granted as it came so easy to us. The true importance can be learned only when we do without them. It is something which can light up anything and so requires to ascertain why is it so important we cannot do without.
Question is would it be possible to live without it, is there any known alternative which is cent percent successful?

Aside from fire there are certain bacteria and creatures that produce light. In caves they light up the area well enough to at least have an idea of where you might be.

People lived without electricity for many many years. Would we have the gadgets that we have now without it? No of course not. Entertainment is a lot better with it, but we could surely live without it if need be. Fires and candles are great inventions too.

As to this date I would say many would loose hope of living if not given a cent percent alternative. As compared to the earlier days humans lived as it was a practice that kept them going. Fire and candle does give us light but not anything like electricity. To this day electricity is something incomparable which humans would never do without.

@thinkology The thing is, we got so spoiled and are a species of "we need it now" mentality sadly.

Of cousre there would be an alternative for electricity. There is fire you know that could light up the dark corners of the street. During the early civilization days, People use fire for Illumination during the night and they have a happy and content life back then.

Through ingenuity, a man can live even without electricity. The saltwater lamp provides alternative lighting. It is made up of salt and water.

@thinkology, as with most things in life, people adapt. The ingenuity of two men to discover electricity over a century ago, would occur in present day age.
Society is born to adapt to what is current, and with technology lending way to simpler lives, life wasn't always how we see it. I'm certain there are parts of the world without light and they're surviving. It's all a matter of perspective.
