A Rare Daytime Music War

Usually, my girlfriend and I hold our music wars at night, often turning them into all-nighters. For some reason, we did one this afternoon, probably because beer was involved. Basically, we play music for each other, knowing that we have extremely different tastes. Eventually, one of us "wins." This one only took about three hours. Her sample: "Elissa Lies" by Jason Michael Carroll, "How do You Get that Lonely?" by Blaine Larson, "I'll Be" by Reba, "Concrete Angel" by Martina McBride, "Copacabana" by Barry Manilow, and "Live Like You Were Dying" by Tim McGraw. My sample: "I want Her" by Keith Sweat, "African Children" by Aswad, "Angel Among Us" by Jillian Speer, "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin, and "California Uber Alles" by Dead Kennedy's. It was starting to look like a stalemate when she pulled up Elvis doing a live remake of "Unchained Melody." A personal story often produces the winning songs, and such was the case today. Not only did she get to see the King, but Elvis was her first concert. That, and the fact that "Unchained Melody" is a beautiful song pretty much sealed the deal. Desperate, I countered with "Jesus Built My Hotrod" by Ministry, but to no avail.

When someone pulls out the King as their ace (pardon the pun there) just concede the hand. You've lost.

Yeah, she comes up with some good winners. She beat me with Buck Owens the other night.

You capitulated too quick before the might of Elvis when you could have responded and won with Father Abraham And The Smurfs well, maybe not
