Since I've been gone I have found a lot of interests online, one of them being a guy named Tommy Sotomayor, a YouTube that speaks a lot about Men's/Father's rights, and the state of the so-called black community. I will place a link here to his main YouTube channel, but I don't know how to hyperlink just yet so you will have to copy and paste.
Anyway in one of his shows, the conversation went to the topic of how children of today revere social media, and not their parents. They will post their entire lives on Facebook as though it is their counselor. They aren't striving for the approval of either parent, they are doing things to get "likes". They will literally come to blows or even kill because of what someone posted on their timeline.
The caller at the moment summed these facts up by saying they are being raised by social media. Kids and young folks today aren't concern with building or creating or giving back to society. The biggest reason we see so much chaos today is that all is done for social image.
The reason I post this now is that in the past, I posted a discussion stating that I didn't understand bullying through social media, why it would drive someone to kill themselves.

But, having seen it happen over and over again, and seeing the absolute importance that more and more people put on the image of social media and what people are saying, I can see how a young mind can think that being bullied online is the end of the world.
I'm glad that my children, now 14 and 11, aren't into social media at all. They don't see me placing a huge amount of importance on it nor hide it away from them, so they aren't in a rush to have their own.
There was even an incident where a child took a picture of mine on their phone, and posted it on Facebook with a nasty comment. My child told me about it, but in a way that showed she could care less. Since she didn't have a Facebook where they could tag and taunt her, and she wasn't interested in what people would have to say about the picture, it didn't bother her in the least.
I believe that you should keep a child off social media for as long as possible; at least until they understand that people are mean and will say a bunch of crap they never will to your face because they are safe behind a keyboard. I also think that the downfall of our society is due in large part to the importance placed on social media. What do you think?
