Thursday night while my kids were sleeping and my man was out I was bored and grumpy. I had seen some exercises on pinterest that are supposed to give you a great buttocks. I do squats and other simple exercises often but never see any real results. I did this little workout for 10 minutes and my legs were shaky afterwards. Last night the tops of my thighs were getting sore. This morning it is so sore that I can barely walk lol. It is about 60 and gorgeous out but we will be home doing nothing because my legs hurt to much to walk around. My daughter is still at my sisters house and my son has been playing on the playstation 3 since he woke up. I did a small load of delicates and a large load of darks. I hung the pants and towels on the line outside to dry. I was excited to be able to do that in March. It is the first time this year I have gotten a load of laundry hung on the line. I have another large load of pants in the wash right now. I haven't gotten much housework done lately so its all backed up. I want to catch up on it today since I can't really get out and do anything with my legs sore. Maybe I will vacuum all the rooms. I am planning to make deviled eggs as well.

Did you say vacuum? You've inspired me! I love vacuuming. Go figure.

@TheHorse My husband hates it always out so I try to put it away now and then. Of course I am usually about to use it so why bother.

I did a little vacuuming today too! Do you ever put your vacum away? Or do you just leave it out like Erma Bombeck?

That pain sounds familiar. But I got mine a couple of years ago, particularly at the top of my calf muscles. Even though it's been so long, whenever I do a long walk or a brisk one out of no where, the pain returns. So I finally started looking to see if I could find others with similar symptoms. And I did. It appears, more than anything else, to be an electrolyte deficiency. Which makes sense since I first experienced this hiking in and out of the Grand Canyon. Vitamin Shoppe carries a powdered mix that doesn't taste too bad that you add to your water. It really works for me. I just have to remember to use it.

Well that is really interesting that you actually found a cause for it. I just assumed its from using that muscle to much. I have bought a few products from Vitamin Shoppe. When I walk a lot I get pain in the front of my legs from the knee down. It feels like the bone hurts. Glenn called them shin splints but I'm not sure if that is the correct term.

@shaggin Yes, per your description, that pain is that of shin splints. Glenn called it. I ran long distance for 8 years and never had them. Some12 or so years after I quite running, I broke an ankle. After it healed, guess what? Shin splints on that leg. Didn't last long and wasn't a long time of pain when it happened, but that's the most I've experienced. So I decided to see what "runners" might have to say about these splints. Here's an article I found. Hope it is of some use to you.
Shin splints, the catch-all term for lower leg pain that occurs below the knee either on the front outside part of the leg (anterior shin splints) or the inside of the leg (medial shin splints), are the bane of many athletes, runners, tennis players, even

That pain that you are talking is but natural. You can have a hot water bath and keep at those exercises. You will soon stop getting those pains.

I agree with that the more often I do it soon I will stop getting the pains. My legs are fully recuperated now so I am ready to start doing them again. I was going to yesterday but I didn't have time as I was gone most of the day and night. Today I will be out for a few hours with my dad while he gets his tattoo. I am so tired. I am going to need a lot of caffeine to get me through the day.

I need to try to do those work outs too! I heard they really work. - the squats but definitely sore. Sounds like you will be having a productive day and getting chores out of the way! Have a wonderful weekend.

Squats made me very sore when I first started doing them. That was over a year ago though. I can't really figure out what of the exercises made the top of my thighs hurt so bad. I did have a pretty productive day. My daughter just came home and my niece is spending the night here. The kids are all laying in the living room watching the Minion movie.

What happened? did you do warm ups before you had that exercise? I think your legs were a bit shock that it started hurting. maybe the exercise isn't good for you, better try other sorts of exercise. hope your legs are better now, i stopped my jogging and went for cycling isntead, which was far better.

No I didn't do any warm ups before I started. They really weren't very strenuous exercises. I think it just worked a muscle that I apparently do not use often as it is very sore. The exercises were to give my buttocks more shape but it doesn't hurt there at all. The muscle that got worked out and is sore is the one on top of my thigh.

I'm sure your done now with your laundry. Were you able to vacuum all the rooms? Your legs still hurt. I hope you prepared the deviled eggs today

what is left of the deviled eggs that I made
I did get time to make the deviled eggs thankfully. I made them before I made dinner. When Glenn got home he ate some and I ate some. They turned out perfect. I had used a new way to boil the eggs so they come out perfect without the shell sticking. There is only a few left for tomorrow that he will eat. I forgot to take a photo earlier so here is one of the ones that are left.

@shaggin Thank you for taking a photo of it. Now I know how deviled eggs look like. Looks like both of you enjoyed it considering that only only one is left. Don't your kids like them? I feel hungry looking at the eggs.

Deviled eggs sound good. The gentle movement around the house should help your sore legs.

I tried to just move around the house and do what I could. It was tough. My legs feel better now and I am ready to exercise again when I get time. I always put on about 10 lbs in the winter so I would like to work out a little bit and get some of that off. Most people don't notice when I gain weight as I am so small but I notice it.

I think your right. My legs were really exhausted while I was doing them but I wanted to push myself to see if I could actually complete the whole set. It only took me 10 minutes but my legs were really shaky after. They are less sore now thankfully and I was able to walk around okay yesterday. I think I should be okay to do some more of them tonight or tomorrow. Eventually my body will get used to it and then they won't hurt like that anymore.

I need to do those exercises before I go skiing for a month. Or my legs will be feeling like yours after my second day of skiing!

I'm sore right now too, but you sound a lot worse off. It helps me if I stretch right after exercising (you can try stretching now too and see if that helps) and "rolling out" my muscles works too. (I usually use a foam roller or tennis ball. Just sit or lay on the ball and roll around on top of it. It hurts at first, especially if you're very sore, but it always helps me.) I hope you feel better! And hopefully you can get some of your chores done!

That is interesting. I bet the effects of using rolling around on the tennis ball would be the same as a massage being painful but loosening up the sore muscles. I do not have a tennis ball though. I never really thought of stretching AFTER an exercise. I have always just heard of stretching before. Thanks for these interesting ideas!

You should have done warm up exercises first before going thru the routine ( just a suggestion and my opinion)
