It happens when both our phones have high-speed Internet. It's a music war, where we play songs for each other. This can last for hours, sometimes turning into an all-nighter, but eventually, one of us "wins."
Tonight was just such a night.
Her sample: "The Night the Lights went Out in Georgia" by Reba, "Please Remember Me" by Tim McGraw, "Angry all the Time" by Tim McGraw, "Cry" by Faith Hill, "When the Lights Go Down" by Faith Hill.
My sample: "Red Berry Joy Town" by The Wonder Stuff, "Dance with Me" by Lords of the New Church, "God's Gonna Cut You Down" by Johnny Cash, "John E. Smoke" by the Butthole Surfers, "The National Anthem" by Radiohead.
I won tonight's war, however, when I went for the knockout with Tex Williams' "Smoke! Smoke! Smoke! (That Cigarette.)" I thought that "Fairway to Heaven" by Gaye Byker's on Acid would do it, but it was Tex Williams that won this night.

Charlie Walker used to sing this on the Opry and referred to it as "the first rap song." I always loved the note under Williams' name on the 78: "the man with a million friends." And how can you go wrong with a Merle Travis song?
Well played!

It's hard for me because she expects me to play a lot of different types of stuff. But yeah, I knew I'd won as soon as I thought of playing it.

This is hilarious, was the war about who could find the worst song or the best song?
