My yard becomes kids' playground

My children always play in the yard, it's already their outdoor playground. Recently they are playing cycling in the yard. They set up the route in the yard, and also set up "toll booths". Sometimes, they get "bonus" by passing by a toll, perhaps a snack. Just now, my children were playing in the yard again. The neighbor kid next door heard them playing, so he asked to come to our house and play. Three of them played for awhile, then the kid who is staying opposite saw them playing, and wanted to come over too. So now, there are 4 kids playing in my yard. It's definitely noisier than usual. Three of them are 7 years old, and my little girl is 4, so I don't really need to take care of them. It's fun to see how the kids set up their game, and also instruct each other. Hopefully they can play well together, so I can continue to enjoy my computer time here.

i think if we have kids in the house, every corner is a playground. my nephews and niece are all living nearby and they go to our house every single day cause theyre much closer to their grandpa (my dad). recently, they set up a mini pool in the backyard. its always a riot and i find it destressing.

@MGjhaud It's good to sometimes have more kids play together. Yes, I always think kids are very creative if we do not stop them. I have always been asked what my children are doing or playing at home, since theirs always feel bored at home. I actually have no idea, as my children can just play with anything they found in the home. Though some people prefer the children only play with the toys the parents bought for them, I think children always like to turn anything into their toys.

Yes, you are right. Kids can just play wherever they want. Every corner in my home has become my children's playground as well. My yard is actually quite messy, full of children's natural toys. So I guess the neighbor kids like to come over and play, though it's messy, they can play anything they want, water, soil, woods, leaves, etc and won't get scolded. They can't do that in their home. We used to have a small pool in the yard for the children to play as well, but now it's spoiled. But they can use the buckets as well.

I am glad there are neighbor kids who are the same age just nearby, and their parents allow them to come over and play together with my kids too. I always bring my children to the park nearby too, they have made some friends there as well.

@ida123 Yes, I think I am blessed to have the yard, a big park and playground (with playground equipment) in the neighborhood just within walking distance. I don't bring my children to to plaza's playground which usually requires to pay, as I'd prefer them to play outside, get near to the nature, but not inside the shopping malls. Of course, I can understand when the outdoor playground is not accessible, some would like to bring the children to the playground in the malls.

@kaka135 That's what I did before when my children where still young, we went to the plaza or children's playground so that they can mingle kids and be their friends. I'm happy for you that you have playground in your own.

This reminds me of when I was about this same age and playing at my grandparent's. Cowboys and Indians back then. My broomstick was my horse. Pleasant memories.

The broomstick sounds good! It seems like children nowadays or children here don't play that so much, I mean cowboys and Indians, perhaps they don't get exposed to those cultures. They just imitate what the adults do, so they are setting up toll booths, as wherever we go, we have to pass by the tolls. It's city life here.

Your yard must be pretty large to accommodate the bicycles and all those kids.

Not really, it's actually quite small, but the kids can always find their way to do what they want. At least, they can cycle a small round, and still with the toll booths set up. I always try to leave an empty space for them to play, so it might be easier for them to cycle or run around, but my children always like to set up some barriers as challenging blocks.

Sure, I always keep an eye on them, and show my presence as well, especially when there are other kids. I am just very near to them. I'd be around with them all the time if they are 2 or 3 years old.

Yes, you are right. Though it's good to spend time with the children, it's good to let them play on their own without any adult interference as well. So, it's good for me to have some personal time without kids' distraction too. Of course, I still always go and check out on them.

Yes, it certainly is. They can play with water, soil and whatever natural stuffs they can find in the yard. Moreover, I don't need to clean up too much after they play.

Yes, that's why I always encourage my children to play in the yard, even though I bring them to the park every day.
