Does Facebook suck or do your "friends"?

I can understand why people might not want to use Facebook. There are legitimate privacy concerns, the site can be a massive distraction, things change and users can feel they aren't listened to... All kinds of problems like this arise.
What I find amusing, though, is the number of people who tell me that Facebook is worthless and they don't use it much because of the quality of the material they get to see there. It's all memes, or it's full of spam, or everyone is posting scams (to offer but three examples). Do these people not realise that this is not Facebook's fault, but their so-called friends? You see the content posted by the people you chose to follow and if they produce rubbish then it doesn't matter what platform they use! Facebook cannot be blamed for the shortcomings of the people you choose to interact with. Perhaps you need to be a bit more picky about who you follow if that is your biggest concern using Facebook?

Forced to sign up? Who made you? Or did you feel that it would be beneficial and choose to sign up of your own accord? Plenty of people don't like Facebook, but they can choose not to interact. If they do join, the content they see if largely controlled by nobody but themselves.

I ignore the memes and the pleas for charity but this one person who likes every single thing I post no matter what is starting to creep me out. LOL

I agree with you. Mostly, the problems we have in Facebook are produced by our so called friends or the pages we liked. I follow some inspiring and motivating pages in Facebook and I enjoy the wisdom and tips they impart with me. Plus, I pick my friends carefully as well, people I really know in real life so that I can see how they are growing or how are they any moment in Facebook. So, basically, it's just how we use Facebook that will change our perspective. Thanks for sharing, kudos~!
