Got Some Sleep This Weekend

My brother stayed at my house both Saturday night and Sunday night, so I could take a sleeping pill to help me get some sleep. Most nights I only get more than two hours of restless sleep. My body needs so much more than what I give it, but I suffer so much from insomnia. It is important that listen out for my husband at night, because he always gets worse at night. I am so afraid of not hearing him, that I have turned my own body into a nightmare. The doctor says my diabetes and high blood pressure will never get under control as long as I do not get the proper rest that I need, and do not get my stress under control. I took sleeping medicine which I never do unless my brother is there to listen out for my husband. I have not had that much sleep in months, and months. In some ways I feel worse, because now all I want to do it grab a pillow and blanket and go to sleep. I cannot do that, and have not slept during the day only night time. I woke up all stiff and body aches, but I think it is just because my body is not use to laying in one spot that long. I am so thankful my brother came over, so I could relax and get some sleep. However, he says he is staying at his house tonight, because he wants to stretch out in his own bed. I can understand that he would feel more comfortable in his bed, instead of my hard floor.

It sounds like your brother is helping you out. It would be good for you if you could get a nurse to spend the. Night. There might be an organization you could talk too about that.

My brother helped me, and it was so nice to catch up on some sleep. It is something about having hours of sleep that helps so much.

@marlina I forgot you are from the states. One of the reasons I supported Obama was his attempt at socialized Medicine. When its done right it is amazing. Too bad the Senate didn't help him. We can't move back to the US because medical is too expensive. Here in Canada its free and that includes home helath care too.

That's insane! please do your best to find ways to sleep. Not only you have insomnia but also have diabetes, thats just worsening if you don't sleep. I wonder if you have tried drinking milk, it might help you sleep as well

I am highly allergic to milk, so I cannot try that. It is tough not being able to sleep much.

@slund2041 Yeah, he would definitely need his sleep. With that kind of work, it does take its toll.

Hopefully, my brother will be able to stay again soon. It is hard because he has to go to work, so he needs his rest as well. He does a lot of physical labor, so he needs sleep.

My husband has COPD bad. He has had it for ten years, but the past six months has been horrible. He has spells where he cannot breathe and needs assistance.

@TiarasOceanView Yes, it is a bit of a strain. I just wished I could make my husband better. I love him so much, and do not want him to suffer. He is having a good day today.

This is a real dilemma isn't it? If you're not getting enough sleep you soon won't be much help to your husband. Is he in a different room? If so, can you have a monitor put in there like they do in babies' rooms? It sounds tough for you at the moment.

I have monitors in there. Yes, he is in a different room. However, I go in there and check him several times a night. I can hear his every sound, if I am not sleeping. I have alarms setup so that I can hear. He has a house phone beside him, in-case he needs me as well he can call my cell phone. He has something he wears around his neck that it will alarm in the living room where I am. I think I am afraid if I sleep none of these things will wake me up.

That's really hard but you should try to sleep as well for your own sake.

At least you got two nights sleep, it was good of your brother to help you. Would a baby alarm help you to hear if your husband wakes? If you placed it near him and set it on 'loud' it may enable you to relax as you would be sure to hear him, even if you were asleep yourself. If I lived near you I would willingly come and look after him for you

I am so glad that you were able to get some much needed sleep. I can understand how your brother feels and that was very thoughtful of him to stay the night to help out.

Oh, sorry to hear about your feeling. Please massage your feet the upper and lower parts, back and forth.Just use a baby oil.You can do it by yourself slowly. While doing it you feel like to sleep.Or, hire your niece or nephew to massage you.Never allow somebody to massage the upper part of your body. How I wished we were neighbors so I would be the one to massage you.

It would be fun to be neighbors. I do rub lotion on my feet and legs. I will try baby oil, and see if that will help.
