When Push Comes to Shove

I NEED new glasses. The ones I have are so bad I can barely see out of them. Thank you Wal-Mart for having the worst vision doctors I've ever encountered.
I called my plan this morning to find a provider that takes the government plan I'm on, and there isn't any other than Wal-Mart - GRRR - So I'm going to Lenscrafters.
I've been there before, and they have always done right by my eyes. I'm only getting the exam however. There's no way I can afford their lenses. The last time I was there two pairs cost me $800 and with my HSA $300. Yes, I know you just choked, which is why I can't get my lenses through them.
I'm going to hope I can take the prescription to Wal-Mart and they will do it up right. I know I can take the prescription elsewhere. Whether they will screw up my eyes again is to be seen. I can only pray they don't.
So my out of pocket will cost me $59 and that I can handle. I just want to be able to see properly again.
I need two pairs of glasses - bifocals and computer. I didn't get the computer glasses last time only the bifocals because Medicaid only pays for one pair of glasses. I know I'm going to need two pairs, and if I need to go to three pairs just so I can function I will.
What happens with these bifocals is that the reading area is so small, only a partial spot and I can only read for a few minutes before I can't read anything because it's so blurry. I end up taking my glasses off so I can read anything, and that isn't good for my eyes either as when I put my glasses back on everything is blurry from not wearing my glasses. I'm in a catch 22.
So if I need a separate pair of reading glasses, I'll get them, as well as the computer glasses and distance. It might be the only way I'll be able to see properly. However, I know I can only get ONE pair with Medicaid.
It's really bad sometimes to grow old and need more than one pair of glasses to do anything.
So that is the start to my day. I didn't get to bed until 5 this morning because I needed to take my older son to work and it was fruitless to go to bed for just a couple hours after picking my younger son up from work. So I am just getting started with my day.
You'll see the Daily Bible Study in a bit. I'm just getting started with that as well.
I hope your day/night is going well. Thanks for reading.

I have always used Walmart for the exam and the glasses. One time I went to Lens Crafters and like you said, the glasses were very expensive and I didn't find them any better than Walmart. When the lady was trying to fit me for glasses she screwed up so many times I had to get the manager to do it.
Before I left the exam room the doctor told me I should have a cataract operation.
I have been wearing glasses for years and was never told that and I don't see any problems once I have the glasses on.
I always got my exams at Walmart and the glasses without any problems. I went to either New Jersey or Pennsylvania Walmart's, depending on what store I was working in at the time that was near them.

@just4him It is a shame that we can go to one store and then its sister store somewhere else and the people are just not as good. Before we moved from the northeast, I had a checkup at Walmart and the doctor was a new young Indian girl and she was so wonderful I wanted to take her with me.

I have varifocals which I find useful. It is amazing how expensive, what is an essential accessory, are.

@just4him They are like bi focals but are graduated towards the bottom so the bottom half you can read close up but normal distance glass at the top.

Being able to read well so you can do daily Bible Study is very important as I am familiar with your work in this area. I enjoyed your Bible Studies at Bubblews. They could use your talents at Persona Paper. They are currently not paying there but I hang out there to keep up with the events and the handful of writers still hanging on to the site.I write here more now and enjoy it more each day.

@just4him It seems the site might go through some modifications if it wants to remain open but there are only a handful of participants, including myself.

@lookatdesktop Maybe it will do as this site did as I understand it went through a time when it didn't pay and then a new management, for lack of a better term, took over and it's paying out again and has a solid foundation.

Eyes are very important. I've had to wait a long time to get my eyes checked again. I would have liked to have had it done almost right away last year because the glasses are so bad. I hope you get your eyes tested soon.

once you get that perscription you might check online, I got hubbys glasses for 75 dollars online, no insurance, once I had that prescription. they were more expensive because of the size of his head, for a less large dome, they would have been 30-50.
