I had a stupid accident last evening, while I was making dinner.
I had a roast baking in the oven, my niece has joined us for dinner.
To help me, she has removed the pot from the oven and put it on the kitchen counter.
I have seen the pan, I forgot it was hot and I grabbed the handle with my bare hand (the left hand).
Result, second degree burn on te palm and big part of the fingers.
I had to rush to the ER for medication and I have to go back in the afternoon for medication.
I am very slow typing with one hand only.
If I do not reply to your comments, you know the reason.
Stupid accidents can have serious consequences, be careful in the kitchen.

Ouch, I am so sorry that happened to you. I can only imagine how painful that is. Get well soon, follow the Doctors orders and take it easy while recovering.

Oh dear, clumsy Anna.
This reminds me of an occasion many moons ago while I was living with my parents. My mother turned on the electric hotplate on the oven and after a while wondered if it was getting hot, so she put her hand on to check.

Not your fault, you just forgot about it and this happened. I remember one time me and grandma put a bread bun with the napkin along with it. good thing she noticed and didn't switch the toaster on. I hope you recover soon @LadyDuck. Another event that remind me was when my nephew wasa kid he touch the iron when it was still hot

Oh no, sorry to hear this. It will be tough working with only one had - so your husband is going to have to fill in...maybe he can type for you too.

@AbbyGreenhill I am right back from the medication, it does not look very nice, but not as bad as I thought. I think that in about 1 week I can use my hand again.

@Dragonairy1 Yes, it's hard to do anything, even to take a shower and wash my hair.

@LadyDuck I'm pleased it doesn't hurt anymore, but that's a long time without one hand.

OH Anna poor you. I guess it is an easy mistake to make. The busy times for us here in the UK is around Sunday lunch time when people would come to A&E with burns from doing exactly the same sort of thing or worse dropping the hot burning oil down the front of their legs and feet. I hope that it heals up nicely and you are not in too much discomfort. Don't worry about replying just get yourself better soon!

@garymarsh6 I am sure that not washing the dishes is motivating. He had to wash them today and it shows he never did this.

@LadyDuck You should milk it for as long as you can. Tell your husband your doctor has ordered you not to cook for a month! He will have to take you to restaurants for meals. Tell him it is ok because it will save him from having to do the washing up! That will motivate him!
