MIA Again?

I haven't been around much lately so just in case you were wondering why, you have to wonder no more. I thought I would write a quick post to tell you why I have been MIA.
I have had a virus that knocked me out completely. Before I gain too much sympathy, I hasten to add that it was only a debilitating computer virus.
The long and the short of this sad little tale is that it involved a complete taking down of my computer. I had to reformat my whole laptop and I had to start off from scratch again.
The first thing I did after reformatting was to install AVG. I did this so that I could make sure that I didn't bring the virus back onto the laptop.
Fortunately I managed to save most of my files to another hard drive. Not a quick process and I am now I am slowly putting everything back in place.
I am also having to re-install all my software which is proving to be a bit of a pain. Because of the virus on my laptop I have been paranoid about passing the blessed virus on to someone else. Because of the virus I have not been in touch with folks nor uploading or downloading stuff.
When I keep saying I am, what I really should be saying is my son is doing. So it seems like my star of a son has come to my rescue once again. Thankfully he has dealt with my computer problems and me a clean slate.
I am now back on my laptop and back to normal, well as normal as it gets where I am concerned.
Hopefully you might now be seeing me around a little more.

@maggs224 oh dear! windows 10 updated itself to this laptop last friday whilst i was out feedin' horses. i'd left the puter'n coz i was 'xpectin' somebody to send me'n email (which they didn't, lol) 'n when i returned, 'twas already'n the process. i feared shuttin' it down 'n had nary a clue how to stop't. 'twas alright the first day, the screen'd jest blink near constant. by late saturday though, the puter'd not start 'xcept fer a black screen. f2 helped 'til sunday morn 'n then i'd the need fer full safe mode to get'er runnin'. finally got the dang thingy restored back to windows 7, thank the stars. i hope that'cha get yerself back'p 'n runnin' soon, hon. big hugs!! i know how frustratin' all that can be!

good of your son to help you out. i know how it feels going through the whole process. i was supporting dell computers before and i stayed for hours over the phone when one needs to be reformatted.
and i think the name of the antivirus is AVG.

I'm glad you got that taken care of. I had AVG at one time, but it didn't work for me. It always scanned when I was working on it and I couldn't do anything on the computer until the scan was complete and sometimes that took 3 hours. I have Avast and it works in the background and doesn't disrupt anything.
You might consider Dropbox for your files. I have that and it's awesome. It's an online storage site. It's also free.

@maggs224 I worked a shift where I was on the computer in the early morning hours and that's when AVG wanted to do it's scan. After a while of putting up with it, I had enough and looked for another option. Avast is a 5 star antivirus program. I've now had it for so many years, I've lost count.

You have my totally sympathy, I know how time consuming and annoying having to do this is. I didn't have a virus but I had a rather bad condition caused by my virus protection software that consumed all my hard drive.. I had t totally wipe it to correct the problem and reconstruct which took a long time. just doing all the updates again took hours!! Glad you are back.

Oh I hate that when you get a virus. I am thankful that my husband is a computer tech so he has installed virus protectors on our computers and takes care of all of that. Glad your back up and running again.
