Please get married tomorrow

Philippines
March 16, 2016 9:16pm CST
I just can't believe what the other neighbor said to me yesterday when I saw her at one of our tenants place. I rarely see this woman because of her business in sewing. Anyways, she probably said that because his son who was also my childhood friend is married with two kids. Some people really think this relationship and marriage thing is for everybody. I don't know if i should be annoyed or just laughed it off Can't they just respect me for being single.

You are not alone . When i was already 30 and wasn't married yet but have a boyfriend , now my husband , the married people at the bank where i was working then , keeps pestering me that this and that is already married . So, in short they keep pestering me why i can't get married yet . Just don't mind them . Or maybe just give them an acidic answer .

When its the right time for you to get married then there is nothing anybody can do to stop it. Not even a magnitude 8.9 earthquake can stop it. But for now i suggest you just laugh off the side comments from "nosy neighbors"

People should respect people's wishes to do what they want. Some people choose to be single for a reason.

its becoming a norm i guess. when youre at the right age with a decent job and everybodys settling down, you become the center of the attention. well i guess your neighbor is too happy to share her sons married life and she wants you to experience it too.

@Letranknight2015 or it could be that yeah. she cant think of anything to joke about other than your private lovelife.

I don't know about that. I guess she doesn't know about me not having a decent job or even settled. She didn't even shared his sons married life or something. She was just probably curiously joking about me being single @MGjhaud

It seems that people make everything their business. My sister has never married, and people judge her about it as well. She has no interest in marrying, and likes the single life. My brother and I are also judged because we do not have children. It seems everyone thinks it is a sin that at a certain age, if you have not gave birth then there is something wrong with you. People need to stop meddling in other people's business.

I just don't get it though @slund2041 but so far I was not judge here but maybe some of them were just worried in a way. Besides, they're not the ones helping you if your in trouble, i mean would they help if you have marital problems? i don't think so.

Marriage isn't for everyone. Half of the time it isn't for married people either. It appears so many should or should've stayed single.

Hello @Teep11 they just realized that they're not compatible with each others as years go by. I guess right now it's a choice for me to be single, i don't feel the need for that kind of love since Im not that mature.

You are perfect with you are now, i am single and when im back home here, in Vietnam, neighbors talk alot about that. But look at their situation, girls get married then come back live with mom and dad for nearly 5 years. Human are judgers

Hello @anh101 they came back with child or not? well it's our right to decide wether we should have a relationship or not.
• Philippines

@anh101 well, that's life they chose to risk it. at least she's not alone, having her child is better than retaining the husband who just doesn't do his job.

I agree it happens to me way back when I am almost turning 30, well they got sense cause If you have a child It is more advisable to have them in your 25's or early 30's . I have a 2 year old son now and sure wish I have given birth earlier so I can enjoy the bonding moments with my kid as you watch them grow, and grow old with them. Now I'm freaking out counting , what age am I when he turn 10,18 and so forth..

It's not fair! because no one helped or educated me on how deal with relationships and women back in highschool or college . when ever i get myself involve with a women in text or person, they would tell me to focus on studies and shoved off girls.now, every one seems to want me to get married?

I don't care what she just said, even she mentioned she got married with out any sort of money, which was stupid for me. . I'd wish i never have to talk to her again, some people just dont' mind their own business anyways.

You often hear that from the elderlies in the province. Sometimes it's annoying how some people would tell you "Why are you not getting married yet?". It's not their business anymore though of course, it is in our culture to respect them so you just got to give them a smile as an answer.

Hello @LdeL0318 I wonder if that would shut them up if they ask me that question. Anyway, I will try your suggestion, unless they persist. Some people just don't know when to respect your status.

In India marriage is compulsory at some age as per society. Those who don't get married are not seen with respect here too but I think it's not right because it's our wish if we get married or not.

That is not fair! @sjvg1976 for me, that's discrimination because it's your choice to have a relationship and get married. I can't believe it's still happening in there, it's the 21st century now.

Owie..don't mind the older folk too much it's just their harmless banter. They're just making their small talk with youngsters but don't quite know which topics to use. They don't even know that people may feel slightly put off by that topic.
