Is Hulless "Puff 'N Corn" Really Popcorn?

We have a lot of local companies that make snack foods; one of the biggest is Snyder (and that includes Snyder of Hanover and Snyder of Berlin – they are not connected or related). Snyder of Berlin makes a hulless (or hull-less) popcorn knock off called Puff 'N Corn that's a lot more forgiving to those who have braces, dentures, dental appliances and sensitive gums when compared to regular popped corn. I started getting it when I had issues with the popcorn kernels getting stuck in between my teeth and gums and the amount of time I would spend trying to dig it out (not to mention the irritation of it and the bloody gums). Sadly, this isn't authentic hull-less popcorn; it's a corn meal mash that's sent through an extruder and injected with air. Think of snacks like Cheetos and you have the basic idea behind this product. You can get this in a couple of different flavors but it is a regional product so it might be hard to find in some areas. Even though this isn't real popcorn with the hull removed, it is a tasty snack that will surely puzzle some guests. The white cheddar version is nice to toss on top of tomato soup or a cream based soup and because there's no kernels to contend with you can eat the entire bag without having to pick out undesirable, hard hulls. Have you ever had hull-less popcorn? Do you like butter or oil on your popcorn? Have you ever had kettle corn? Photo: Me

I'd kill for some of the kettle corn that they have at the Renaissance Festival. They have these huge copper kettle that they make it in and thankfully it's right next to the place that makes the toffee coated peanuts and almonds

@freak369 - That makes me want some. We used to go to the festival every year just for the junk food and to stock up on Gigi Ann dip mixes. Those are really good.

I've never liked popcorn and can't stand the smell but it sounds an improvement if there are no kernels.
