Apprehensive about my big day tomorrow

Moving eyes

The day has finally arrived that I will be undergoing another operation on my right eye. This will involve cutting away a part of the sack that holds the artificial lens I was given during the cataract operation. Due to the rather unorthodox appointment time of 7-30 AM, I will start the day at 5 AM. This in itself will be a rarity for me because I consider that to be late tonight rather than early tomorrow. If the operation is successful I may end up back in line for a cataract operation on the left eye soon, although potential complications could prove quite catastrophic. I am hoping to be on Mylot tomorrow afternoon, but I am absent then it may be some time before I revisit.

The news is good at the present, but I have reservations about the long term prognosis.

My wife has had to twice undergo similar surgery after her cataracts were removed and both were very successful. I hope yours goes well too.

The worst part was after the operation when the surgeon and his assistant were discussing what to try next time if this recurs, which was the last thing that I wanted to hear.

Whatever the time frame I expect that it will seem a very long time to me.

@Asylum Time has a tendency to slow down at times of worry, yes. My cataract op last Friday went relatively quickly, and the results, I have to say, are pretty impressive. Just a pity I have to wait some weeks to get my glasses prescription changed, but I have found an older pair of glasses with a weaker lenses in that makes it a little more bearable in the interim.

@pgntwo I was rather apprehensive about the cataract operation, but also found that it went quite quickly and was no problem. Of course that did not last because the lens is now covered due to the sack containing it contracting.

Due to the time difference, you have already had your surgery. I hope it went well and that you have a speedy and complete recovery. Fingers crossed.

It is fine so far, but it still remains to be seen whether the same problem reoccurs in the near future.

@ElizabethWallace It needs to stay permanent because I am not prepared to undergo that type of surgery again.

@Asylum Good. Gary and I were worried about you. Happy that you are doing alright. Good luck with the healing part. Fingers crossed that your wound behaves itself this time.

@Asylum I definitely wrote a whole lot more to my comment, but half of it seems to have disappeared.. Oh well. Stay strong! Since the doctors are fully qualified, it'll be okay in the end. ^_^ And we myLotters will be waiting until you recover!

It seems to be okay so far, but it will be several months before I feel comfortable that it is actually over with.

Good luck for tomorrow. Don't think of the worst that could happen just think of the best that can happen! Keep positive! I had to be there for 07:30 it passes quickly because every 15- 30 minutes they put drops in your eyes to anaethetise them. You will be fine my friend.

It is difficult not to think about the potentially serious outcome of this operation because the surgeon made a point of telling me what the risk was.

Best of luck with the operation. At least you won't sit around all day waiting for it - and I certainly hope you don't lay awake all night worrying about it.

I shall be setting off from home in about 30 minutes, although I am certainly not looking forward to this at all.
