The day after I totaled the car on the freeway, my parents went and bought a new car. It was a Ford Maverick.
In February of 1973 I was driving with the girl friend I met the day after the accident. I was on south Lamar and Treadwell St.
It was raining and the light turned yellow. So, I stopped.
The guy in the truck behind me, who was waving at me, didn't.
He had 2 passengers in the truck. My friend went to a nearby store to call the police. The three of them gather some stuff up (drugs I suspect) and then the two passengers ran off.
The driver told me that he thought I was going to run the light and he was going to do so too.
Great, I thought to myself.
He got a ticket, needless to say.
Funny story about this accident too.
When the policeman was taking my information, he looked at my driver's license, then looked at the street name, then at the license again.
"Treadwell Boulevard, not Treadwell Street," I told him.
"Oh. I didn't think it went that high," he said. Yes, I lived on Treadwell Boulevard at that time.
