Best shift for work?

At my hubby's job he has to flip from nights to days. Some places are only 1st shift and work a typical 9-5. Some jobs work 3 shifts. Some work two 12 hour shifts. What type of shift if you work do you work? The shift you prefer?

i prefer working at night although the best is during daytime cause its more relax when we sleep at night but theres more money on a nightshift. i usually choose 6PM-3AM..

My hubby likes that shift because of fewer bosses and fewer customers stopping in to check on things. And you are right night shift premium certainly helps entice you to work such shifts. Though as ou get older it gets harder to work those kind of hours.

I work third and prefer third. I realize it wouldn't be the most ideal shift for a family situation though. it's just me, myself and I here though so it's perfect for me. We've had changes in the department, one new person is leaving because she has a young family and can't sleep.

I worked 3rd shift 2 years ago and found it worked perfectly at the time for me. I was home during the day if the kids needed me, though they were at school so I could sleep, then I could taxi them around after school. I was still always tired though..

Yes I think 3rd is hard for a family. I don't work 3rd, but I do for black friday... and that's awful!!! I was up nearly 48hours because I'm too high strung to nap while the kids are up. That was a long 11pm-8am and surprisingly busy. If my hubby's job didn't force them to rotate I don't think he would do nights... he likes that there are fewer bosses but it's too hard with our kids being smaller and him being exhausted.

I liked second shift as well. You got to sleep in and still get some stuff during the day done if you got up earlier. I used to work later shifts when I started my current job but it was getting too hard between the homework and the kids would't sleep til I got home. No way could we be working on homework at 11pm or later. Plus I have a tendancy to stay up til 1 - 2 am winding down and be back up by 5 doesn't work. Now if I didn't have kids 2nd would be fine otherwise.

I'd prefer no shift at all if I had a choice! Ah, but I love having money from working... Day shift works fine for me, my only gripe about my hours are that I wish I got out a bit earlier. I have 2 days a week where I don't get home till 6pm and the kids have to struggle to find rides on those nights which gives us all anxiety. If I could leave at 4:30 everyday and be home to drive them around I'd be happy.

Wouldn't we all prefer no shift... darn those bills that keep showing up demanding our hard money LOL That's where I like my job I might not work full time but I am able to be off by 3 most days so I can get dinner started and pick up the oldest from after school activities. And worst case if she misses the bus she can call the neighbor or walk the couple of blocks from school to my work and chill til I"m off

I worked in customer service for nearly thirty years. I worked splits in the beginning. I have worked all shifts imaginable beside the 12 hour shift. Never liked nights although I am a night person. Before I retired I was working a 8:30a. to 4p. shift Monday through Friday.

That's the sort of shift I prefer also especially with the kids. I think its different to be at home being a night owl than to be on your feet in a factory doing a 12 hr shift for sure! I dont know how many more years my hubby can continue to do this.

I think it would be hard to swap back and forth between days and nights. We are both retired so it doesn't affect us now although it never did really as we both worked regular hours.
