Many of us want to be more frugal and are searching for ways by which to do this. Some of you may have mason jars cluttering your kitchen or storage area. Are you going to be canning this season? If not, you will probably be throwing these jars out or trying to sell them at a yard sale. But, have you thought of utilizing these jars in different ways instead of canning? Here is a list of ideas that might be usual to you: 1. Flower vase- Ribbon around the neck or stinsels glued on the outside can make this a great vase. Nice for a gift for kids to give for Mother's Day or other special events. 2. Candles and Glow jars- For summer nights in the backyard or even in the house. Kids will love them too for sleepovers to have light in their rooom. 3. Planter- Decorated or not this can make a great planter for your grandkids. They can plant a seed and watch the root grown and the bud pop out of the ground. 4. Super Hero Bank/Money jar- You can get stincels and make the jar into a Batman, Ironman, Lego, etc. money jar or bank. It's fun to save their chore money in it for icecream or whatever. You can also use Mason jars as decorative pieces. Fill them with sea shells, colorful rocks or some small objects you save or collect.

I do not have any mason jars sadly. They are so very useful though Celtic for sure. I usually put pens and stuff in jars, any kind of jars I have. I also put small or medium jars in the shelf in the freezer and let them get really cold like that to fill with drinking water(filtered of course) no ice cubes needed then.

That's a good idea. I learned to fill my Gatorade bottles half way and put them in the freezer. THen when I want some cold water I just take one out and pour in some water..Ice water.

Love these ideas... especially watching the roots curl around inside the jar of dirt. That would keep me entertained for hours lol!! Can you tell that I just spent the week with a 4 year old for Spring Break. She certainly has an imagination!!

Sure can see that. I think when the child's imagination is peeked they are more interested in learning about things. Watching something grow, to me, is so cool to see.

I always look at mason jars and want to get some but I had never bought any. Now that I have been oil pulling, the cocnut oil comes in mason jars so I figure I would clean them out (after I have used all the oil) and use them as drinking glasses or whatnot.

I have one mason jar I received as a gift filled with pickled vegetables. I never threw it out as I like the wholesomeness of it and hope to find a way to use it. Good ideas.

That's a great way to eat vegs. Sometimes I get so tired of the usual ways. Thanks.
