Why We Should Eat Fruits Everyday!

The last time I had my yearly general medical check-up 5 months ago, my doctor advised me to eat lots of fruits and green leafy vegetables on a daily basis. According to her I should not eat fatty foods if I want to live long. Regular exercise and eating lots of fruits and vegetables make us healthy, give us high energy, and may protect us from many diseases like cancer, diabetes, gastrointestinal problems, high blood pressure, and even make our eyes remain healthy as we quietly (but reluctantly) age. However, even if we eat lots of fruits and vegetables, our health is still affected by our chosen lifestyle. If we love night life – going to the bar often, drinking, smoking, and skirt-chasing – chances are we kick the bucket so soon due to liver disease (drinking), lung cancer (smoking), accident (DUI), bullet or knife wounds (arguments/fights), and even HIV/AIDS. Eating lots of fruits, green leafy vegetables, fish like salmons, and having a clean lifestyle may make us live long till age 96 not just 69! That would be nice, eh! I am eating avocado right now! Want some? Note: Photo of fruits is from Pixabay.

The green leafy vegetables are not good for everyone. Way too many vitamin K in them.

@antonbunot If you are on a blood thinner, you have to be EXTREMELY careful with green vegetables. Trust me on this one.

Your doctor is right. Healthy eating and healthy lifestyle will prolong our life. Good you went jogging and eating avocado. Keep up. I did brisk walking with my husband this morning and then we had fresh watermelon and cucumber smoothie. Fatty foods are not part of our food choices.

I just hope I could still be able to multiply when I am very old before I close my eyes(Remember that heavenly order - - "Go on earth and multiply!"?)

As much as we would like to have fruits in our meal often, the cost won't let us. Healthy foods are expensive so as fruits. The cheap fruits here are those only in season. Most fruits are being imported such as apples and oranges that is why they are expensive.

@antonbunot oh yes, those fruits that grow here, they are cheaper than the imported ones. Most people here would buy food regardless of the health benefits just yo ease their hunger. I hope there will come a time that good foods and healthy foods will be available for all.

@LdeL0318 Well, it is elections again. I am sure those politicians are starting to buy votes. Stolen money to buy votes! Money that lasts for just few days to buy foods. Then hard life for the people resumes! I don't see any thing good in the future while these evil politicians are alive!

@LdeL0318 . . I heard that fruits are expensive in the Philippines. In fact, everything is expensive down there. Well, there are fruits that grow in most backyards - - like bananas, carabao mangoes, and santol! But eat these fruits in moderation . . otherwise, you will be wailing and making funny faces sitting on the throne in the bathroom!

Yes, eating lots of fruits and vegetables can indeed make us live long . However , as you know , here in the Philippines , fruits are so expensive . So , most Filipinos , cannot eat much fruits. I love avocados . Specially the "pulutan" one , on which even if it is still green outside , it's already ripe inside and it's so delicious to eat . I eat it with just brown sugar on top of the scooped avocado .

@brokenbee Just one avocado every other day is good enough . . . Otherwise, if I eat avocado daily, my wallet will turn "koppit" (flat tire)! Avocados here in Calgary are expensive.

@antonbunot Ahahaha "koppit"? So if that will be the case, no one can make "kupit". Hahahaha! I am not sure if we have avocados now at the market. Usually, they are available during rainy season, if I am not mistaken.

@antonbunot If I had to be afflicted by dementia I prefer not to arrive at that age. I think that our parents and grandparents lived a healthier life, stress is a killer in our days.

But in the Okanagan Valley (British Columbia) . . . they grow eggplants, saluyot, and other tropical vegetables. We used to live in Kelowna, a part of the Okanagan Valley.

Is your doctor a vegetarian, because he seam to emphasize so much on veggies and fruits. I am for a healthy diet too. But, you still have to have a balance in it. Meat once a day is not bad either, and then there is good fat and bad fat. So that's what is what.
