I Got Myself Out of a Mess

As I indicated previously, I used an outside company to apply for my Disability Tax Credit. This company charges 30% plus taxes (15%) of the amount I receive from the government. Last week I received an amount for the 2005 tax year only. There has been a delay in processing the years 2006-2014. I didn't really pay attention or understand everything that was in the government letter. My husband took it with him too the company that are doing our tax return. There is a paragraph in that letter saying that I can fill out a certain form to cancel authorization of a representative. I looked on the government website for this form and found it. But a note said I could do it through my online account which I had previously registered for. On my account it showed only how to authorize, not cancel, so I phoned the government. My call was answered within a minute or two. I was able to make the cancellation over the phone, no forms required. I am thrilled. I assume that since I have cancelled representation there will be no more communication from the government to the National Benefit Authority and therefore they can charge me no more for any monies I receive from the government. However, it is possible that I will have to pay them up to the end of 2015. Regardless, I was able to cancel my authorization of that wicked crook of a company just by making a phone call to the Canada Revenue Agency. Yay! The National Benefit Authority tricked me by I guess I pulled one over on them right back. Two can play that game! As I was losing sleep over thinking about this mess, it occurred to me that if they were giving my my Disability Tax Credit then the government is acknowledging that I am disabled. So... they should be paying me my Disability Pension which they denied me 15 years ago. So that is my next move... to get my pension. If this works my financial worries could be eased considerably. Keep your fingers crossed and pray for me that this works out. My life could be turning around for the better... FINALLY!

It would. I'm not holding my breath on my pension but if I can find the paperwork and get in to see my MP, I will have a ray of hope.
